Folded Cloth Masks
self | 03/30/2020 | Brian Grifin

Posted on 03/31/2020 4:39:10 PM PDT by Brian Griffin

Cut a sheet into one by two feet pieces. Place a two-foot long piece of string in the middle of a piece. Fold the piece over the string. Loop the string over your ears. Flop the outer half of the piece over your head. Tie(or knot) the string around the lower half of the piece and your throat. Fold the top half of the piece back down. Put on eyeglasses to close off bridge of nose openings. To remove, cut string if exposed to hazard and discard, or if not, slip string over ears for reuse.

You can use the bra strap for the cup mask strap.

Boom!

Just be careful with whatever you spray with. You don’t want bleach or ammonia going into your lungs.

Stick some silver biotics gel in your nose and your ears. I use the liquid in my eyes, too. (Sidebar. . .helps me see better as well) I gave a tube to a guy who does some work for me who had a cold about 5 months ago. . . .I gave him the same advice; however, my instructions should have been more detailed. I found out later, he squirted the tube up his nose rather than applying with a q-tip. I told him it probably helped with what ailed him.

I spray after not before. I use lysol or peroxicide.

Cool :)

Wow. I was 18 when I started working in Manhattan while going to school there too and people, including me sometimes, still wore 3 piece suits :)

There were no “dress down” days.

Not better or worse I guess. Just different.

I tried So Hard to take this whole thing very seriously when I went to stop n shop today but I just couldn’t take it as seriously as everyone else.

The masks on and everyone telling me to stay 6 feet away

I wanted to run up to them and give them big sloppy kisses :)

I take this thing seriously, not not nearly as seriously as a potential 30 trillion dollar debt or loss of freedom, among other things.

There were no “dress down” days.

The 90's rocked. Well, except for the arkan-mafia in the WH.

I'm retired, live alone, and only go out once or twice a week to the store to get what I need. I wash my hands once I get home, and wash them again after I put my groceries away. I spent 25 years in uniform working in NY State's prison system without ever wearing a mask...all during the HIV outbreak, and any other disease that came and went. Never got sick once. No need for a mask now.

My friends told me to use hand sanitizer. Hell, I run to the bathroom every half-hour to forty-five minutes, and wash my hands every time after I'm done. Who needs hand sanitizer, only to have to wash it off every time my bladder whines?

I have a big box of unpowered latex gloves that I use when I'm separating meat for freezing, or doing food prep for the holidays. Wearing those gloves while peeling potatoes keeps the starch from the potatoes drying out my hands.

A friend suggested using the somewhat firm bra cups as face mask. They come in all sizes, then can use the bra straps as you suggest to tie the cup on. They are shaped almost like an N95 mask. There are a bunch of bras all sizes at our local reuse center. Is where she got idea. hmmm

"There were no “dress down” days."

Most of my adult life I spent in uniform, and you had to be in compliance with the uniform rules while on duty.

I was in high school in the early 60's. We had a strict dress code...dresses, skirts and blouses/sweaters for girls, no culottes...slacks, shirts for the boys...no jeans or tee shirts. Every so often they'd have "dress-up" day, when the girls could wear their better dresses, and high heels, and the boys could wear their suits/dress jackets and ties. Now they get away going to school naked.

Washing hands with soap BEFORE you touch FACE is more helpful than any other procedure. I don’t use hand sanitizer as well. When you bring groceries home, keep the non-refrigerated stuff in the garage for a day or so. Scrub off the plastic containers with refrigerated stuff (milk, sliced ham container etc) with soapy water before placing in fridge. Then final step—wash hands. I also throw in things like oranges, banana’s, avocado’s etc which all have tough skins, in the sink filled with soapy water and rinse with water. Because who knows which people pawed them before you picked them at the store.
