Stuck at home? Bored? Try one of these projects
vanity | 03-26-2020 | OrangeHoof

If we're honest with ourselves, there are some things around the house we know we ought to do but we tell ourselves we never have the time.

While many of us are under stay-at-home orders, now is the time to handle projects to fight boredom that might have always been put off until "someday when I have the time".

Don't come out of this forced staycation wishing you had done some of these because you'll probably never have a better time to do them:

“Or just explore some topic in depth that you’re interested in. Its a fun and productive use of time.”

Yeah I know, just attempting humor. Lame humor I know. 8>)

Good suggestions nonetheless.

I am way busy with the honey do list I have been avoiding for a long time. Scraping popcorn off of ceilings currently.

That will keep you busy.

I work F&C at road races. I used to autocross pretty regularly until about ten years ago, though.

Reminds me of being married.

I tried not to nag but it comes with the territory.

When I was young, particularly in summer, I'd complain to my mom about being bored. She would shoot off an immediate list of things I could be doing, starting with cleaning my room.

It didn't motivate me to clean my room but it did motivate me to not mention how bored I was to my mom.

LOL, that is exactly how things played out in my house and neighborhood during the 70’s and 80’s.

I agree. That’s why I made a point to STOCK the liquor cabinet first. Rediscovering the Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Whiskey Sour.

I’m pretty sure this is a tip from FR awhile back. It’s a fun site. The project is dedicated to making an audiobook of every non copyright book in the world. Volunteers do the reading. Some are good some not so good. I’ve listened to a bunch and did one reading. It’s not that complicated. They walk you through it. I love history so right now I’m listening to a history of medieval Italy. Forget Game of Thrones this is the real thing. Kings fighting kings,Popes fighting Popes, eye gouging, hobbling your adversary and making them crawl out of the city, and of course there are always beheadings. It makes me realize I’m not really having a bad day. Of course in the midst of all that you get great art, architecture and Dante. Good stuff and like I said something to do during the quarantine.

We did the windows the other day...spending more time on the treadmill...wife making keto-friendly breads...

i still take my early morning drives to a local causeway and enjoy the water and birds and beauty - refreshing way to start the day.

Also noticing more folks out fishing as they are not working for a while...

I’m making my own Amaro and Bitters nowadays.

I have a nice Elderberry Bitters with lots of Cinchona bark. Elderberry has been shown effective against the flu (”Sambucol”). Cinchona bark is the biological source for quinine, the precursor medicine to chlorquine and hydroxychlorquine. So if I make a Whiskey Sour with some lemon lime vitamin C and my bitters, I’m surely gonna be cured!

I am building a gaming kotatsu.

I have the tabletop and the shorter legs in, and the sliders for all the legs are supposed to be delivered to Home Depot today.

I plan to talk to a metal fabricator today.

I am not sure yet if I will settle for a Japanese import heating unit, or fabricate a 1500 watt heating unit with electric fireplace parts and a controller from a guy who makes cabinet incubators.

The rest of the table has to be complete before I can get proper measurements for the quilts.

Chairs will be ordered from Japan.

I did that once. I really do not like the guy that invented that stuff.
