New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that the state was reckoning with a significant rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the majority of which were identified in residents younger than 60. Cuomo announced there were 10,356 confirmed cases across the state, 6,211 of which are in New York City, and 54% of which are from patients who are between 18 and 49 years old.

RUN from those kinds of statistics, they are done that way to hide details that can make a lie of a “younger” claim.
When they lump people into an age “20 and 54” category, they are INTENTIONALLY not showing you just how many are actually between (a) “20 and 25”, (b) “26 and 30”, (c) “31 and 39”, (d) “40 and 49”, and only lastly “50 and 54”. Additionally they even hide everyone below 54 as if they are all “young”. If they do not tell you age group numbers in 5 to ten year increments, numbers in those increments are too small, so they prefer lumping them all together. It is not a transparent way of reporting the numbers. It is done to hide numbers.

Just 7% of the DEATHS in Washington state are for people under age 60.

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 ledger says New York has 60 deaths.
If Cuomo is telling the truth about 10,000 infections, that means New York has a “Case Fatality Rate” of 0.6%.
That’s better than Switzerland, which has one of the lowest CFRs in Europe.
Test results wouldn’t have changed anything.

Pretty steep increase, it looks certain the death toll will be in thousands.

The mortality rate for people under 40 years old is 0.2%. The mortality rate for 40-49 year old is 0.4%.
Which according to my calculator, means a survival rate of 99.6%. (100 - 0.4 = 99.6%)
The mortality rate for an 80 year old or older jumps to 14.8%.
Something that would have to be guessed at since you are never going to be told until years later when looking at data..if then.
