Coronavirus PING please.

btw, and I am sure someone probably already said this...
But would be a GREAT time to buy stock in bathroom tissue, etc. Those stock prices may actually be rising.

It is needless horrendous panic purchasing, causing more panic purchasing.

The organized crime-media causing this to happen are truly terrorists.

What is happening is demand got pushed forward—but total demand for toilet paper did not change. ;-)

UT

Salt Lake City, UT) – The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) and the Summit County Health Department (SCHD) today announced a new case of COVID-19 that is the first instance of community spread of the disease in Utah.
....
The patient is a male Summit County resident, he is between the ages of 18 and 60, and is currently home recovering from his illness. The patient is an employee at the Spur Bar and Grill, and did report to work while he was symptomatic. Public health officials have interviewed the patient and believe the biggest potential risk is to his co-workers. The man’s job at the bar did not require him to interact for extended periods of time with customers.

American’s shocking lack of preparation on an individual scale for ANY disruptions has caused this.

EVERY family should have at LEAST 2 or 3 WEEKS of food and preps for every day life.

That so many don’t is a condemnation of THEIR household management.

Media can’t cause a TP run unless people don’t have several weeks of TP to begin with.

I was one of those 4pk of TP at a time people. Then Katrina happened and I got a clue.

I’ve got 6m of TP now (took me nearly a year and a half to do that) and have had that 6m supply (rotated in/out) for over ten YEARS now.

Mmmmmaybe Americans will begin to make more JUDICIOUS household management decisions going forward.

If you eat out all the time and your fridge contains nothing but a half bottle of expired mustard and a 6p of expired skunky beer, you ARE the problem.

My grandfather, miss him, told me some 40 years ago the US needed to be more independent from other countries. As always, he was right.

i have to admit, anecdotal evidence only, that the parts of the country that experience ‘canes on a semi regular basis seem to be somewhat exempt from the crazy store runs. I don’t really know anybody around me that has less than a month or so of food/items they need to survive. At all times. Just because. Katrina taught us well and that was 15 years ago.

POTUS speaking now....before VP presser....praising team...efforts....

Using full power of govt, to defeat virus.

$8.3B secured from Congress (I’d like to see what all is in that bill).

POTUS sounding a bit hoarse...probably tired as heck, in dealing with all. Prayers up.

Stanford University is asking all students to leave campus immediately following the first confirmed COVID-19 case in an undergrad. The provost is asking instructors to make winter quarter final exams optional for undergraduate students.

“Totally inappropriate comment coming from a FReeper.”

You should see some of the “appropriate” comments directed at those of us who were advising various levels of prep for now going on 2 months.

Many were downright nasty. One of the butflubros was trying to bully people into stupid bets to leave FR if this didn’t turn out to be like the Spanish Flu and calling them liars, traitors, cowards and worse for not taking the bet. (I think she has since had those posts removed out of shame, but still).

The CDC went on a pogrom to knock out USAMRIID last August, supposedly based on incompetence in the army’s operation. Mayhap something else was behind the CDC move.

First coronavirus-related death confirmed in New York State
By Bernadette HoganMarch 14, 2020 | 10:25am | Updated

ALBANY — Coronavirus has claimed its first life in New York.

A woman with underlying respiratory issues died in a New York City hospital, Gov. Cuomo announced this morning.

“We had last night a death in a New York City hospital of an 82-year-old woman who had coronavirus. She came into the hospital on March 3,” he said. “She contracted the coronavirus on top of emphysema, then she passed.”

Excellent, thanks for clarifying, this sounds like wonderful news!

A good treatment frankly sounds like it may be better than a promising vaccine at this point.

The world has millions of years worth of history regards culling. Sometimes one at a time, sometimes whole herds and species.

Humans have evolved and adapted as generalists.

We can do pretty much anything and everything other species can do, thus we are the top and most successful

However, individually, if we do not take advantage of what God endowed us with for purposes of survival and procreation, it is only our individual fault.
