American’s shocking lack of preparation on an individual scale for ANY disruptions has caused this.
EVERY family should have at LEAST 2 or 3 WEEKS of food and preps for every day life.
That so many don’t is a condemnation of THEIR household management.
Media can’t cause a TP run unless people don’t have several weeks of TP to begin with.
I was one of those 4pk of TP at a time people. Then Katrina happened and I got a clue.
I’ve got 6m of TP now (took me nearly a year and a half to do that) and have had that 6m supply (rotated in/out) for over ten YEARS now.
Mmmmmaybe Americans will begin to make more JUDICIOUS household management decisions going forward.
If you eat out all the time and your fridge contains nothing but a half bottle of expired mustard and a 6p of expired skunky beer, you ARE the problem.
i have to admit, anecdotal evidence only, that the parts of the country that experience ‘canes on a semi regular basis seem to be somewhat exempt from the crazy store runs. I don’t really know anybody around me that has less than a month or so of food/items they need to survive. At all times. Just because. Katrina taught us well and that was 15 years ago.
Humans have evolved and adapted as generalists.
We can do pretty much anything and everything other species can do, thus we are the top and most successful
However, individually, if we do not take advantage of what God endowed us with for purposes of survival and procreation, it is only our individual fault.
While not being wise to keep a supply is a huge problem, the mass hysteria the media is causing it a bigger problem.
Now everyone, even some prior preppers, are trying to purchase every little thing they can get their hands on.
ALL because they FEAR. Not because of any shortage. Just FEAR of not being able to get it for one reason or another.
I researched it, and over 90 percent of bathroom tissue manufactured for the USA, and the supplies it takes to make it, is from right here in the USA.
That my friend, is something to be darn proud of!
:)
YMMV.

“1 Year Supply of Toilet paper
So if you wanted to store ahead a one-year supply of toilet paper at 2 rolls per week (for preparedness), youre looking at about 100 rolls per person (about 8 12-packs or 4 cases of 24).”

“normal” roll of toilet paper - not one of those double rolls you can buy.
So a twelve pack is going to last three months - for one person. A family of four will need about 16 rolls for a month.”
