Princess Cruises canceled all its voyages for the next two months and will cut short some current trips, after two of its ships suffered coronavirus outbreaks.
It is the first ocean carrier to suspend sailings as a result of coronavirus. The suspension applies to voyages departing March 12 to May 10, Princess said Thursday.
The cruise line is owned by Carnival Corp. Current trips with less than five days remaining will continue, but those extending beyond March 17 will be cut short.

with my luck they will cancel cruises up until one day before mine leaves.
That is why they are cancelling cruises. My point (I could have done better) is that they are very conscious of passengers health.
Part of the virus transmission is using the rails going up and down stairs- turning doorknobs in the men's and women's room -pressing elevator buttons etc. -tom

No i got your point. Theres just a lot of different vectors and some they really can’t do anyhting about, whether they take certain precautions or not.

The cost of a run of the mill cruise ship today is about a half a billion dollars.
Many cruise lines have bigger ships costing a billion dollars.
So tieing up these ships and paying tens of thousands of dollars to employees, can be a major economic problem, not to mention the collateral damage to airlines and hotels and travel agencies etc.

The BEST PART is some Mensa babe here was just telling me that I was full of crap for recommending she not go on her planned cruise. But she knew better, due to her superior IQ. Well, now let’s see if she can convince Carnival Corp. to NOT stop cruise ship operations. LOL.

I sure hope not. First, they’re not essential to operation of our economy. Second, when that Love Boat loaded up with Coronavirus, they should have TAKEN THE HINT and ended things right there. But they did not. Had they stopped at that point, I might have more sympathy for them...but now, LET THEM ROT!

They’ll be back to ‘normal’ in about 5 years, providing this virus is dispensed with. You can see stock investors are JUST NOW figuring out the same.

When I owned businesses, if there was some sort of downturn, the taxpayers didn't bail me out, nor did I expect them to.
