“...The buildup of activism is enough, that we may see moves to do that in the near future.....”
IF such a Amendment were to be actually passed over such foolishness, enforcing it, especially in certain areas, would be quite the another thing. The last big squirrel hunt and stew cook-off contest held here, had the sheriff, a couple of his deputies, along with their families all right in the middle of it and enjoying a day in the woods. I guess they could always send in the U.S Marshals, the FIB, Treasury Dept. National Guard, Marines, etc. to try and stop it....kinda like they did with moonshine making back in the 1950s or so (BTW, it’s not surprising that it’s still happening too albeit on a much small scale). Personally, I never touch the stuff...LOL.
He killed Bugs? Elbowed Elmer Fudd out of the way?

Sadly, that little cutout doesn’t surprise me. I’ve told a number of people that a cow had to die for that belt and those shoes you’re wearing; “They haven’t figured out a way to remove the skin without killing the cow.”
Ha, ha! Jimmy Carter’s fight with the killer rabbit. I remember that. There are a couple of photos behind this link. Click on those for enlargement.

That's what this guy did apparently.
I always told my kids that in an apocalypse we would eat the pets first because we won’t be able to protect or feed them and abandoning them or waiting till we and the pets are all starved and desperate is stupid.
We will eat them while they are still plump and tasty.
I read the whole story, so I would like to emphasize that this was not a case of a hunter catching and killing a rabbit. Some of the posts on this thread seem to have been written under that impression.
The story states that the incident took place at an animal shelter and the dead animal was a domesticated rabbit.
Further, the creature was tortured before being beheaded.
Pretty sick. Not something any ethical hunter would condone.
I raised and killed hundreds of rabbits.
Take them from the cage wack them in the head and butcher them.
This sicko took a bunny which was tame and meant to be a pet, hit it repeatedly with a stick—which I’m sure was very painful—and finally beheaded it. I don’t care how “hungry” he was, this was a depraved act. I’d like to see a reenactment of his foul deed done on HIM, this time with a baseball bat.
As long as he signed the adoption paperwork first, he should be in the clear...
We raised rabbits for slaughter too. Filthy, stupid animals. They deserve to be prey.
But animal torture of any kind is beyond the pale.
“Yeah but did you hunt in an animal rescue shelter?”
Hey, is it a crime to follow the path of least resistance?
Her name was Petunia.....
Apparently. He’ll be doing 2 years, so he doesn’t have to worry about food. When he gets out I wonder if he will hit the local animal shelter again. 8>)
Hop along, folks..
No truth to rumor the wabbit was in the Fed’s Wabbit Protective System, now compromised by a hungry homeless guy.
Jimmy Carter breathed a sigh of relief after hearing of the rabbit’s death....
