That’s what that death cult in Korea is doing. Purposely infecting Christians to bring about the end times. Can’t make this shit up.

I’m a comic book collector. Last year one of the platinum age books I acquired was from this time frame. Some aspiring “artist” added annotations to the front and back covers that “demonstrated fluid losses” out of both ends of the character and a note about the flu.

I feel it’s worth more than a mint copy because of the unique historical references added to the books character. I don’t have it with me as I’m out of state or I’d try to learn how to post a picture.

I for one am getting tired of all this hysteria, and quite frankly, disappointed that conservatives are getting all wrapped up in the manufactured hysteria being generated by our press, mainly as a way of attacking our President. The majority of those who frequent this site are more likely to die of some other malady, than the corona virus, so keep that reality in perspective.

My gut feeling about this corona virus is that the Globalists, Illumaniti and their collective ilk are smiling at this as it serve their goal to reduce 90% of the world's population to their optimum amount of just 500 million.

Also remember that Bill Gates has said on record that "The way to reduce the world's population is via vaccination".

So by allowing this virus to spread worldwide while decrying any country that wishes to close their borders, they hope that the infection will reach the crisis point and then Voila, they roll out the cure in the form a "Vaccine" which will cure the virus but eventually shorten the recipients' life for a early death a few yrs afterwards.

Remember the infamous words of Obama: NEVER LET A CRISIS GO TO WASTE!!

Aside from a few posts expressing alarm, I see no hysteria on this thread. Why don’t you go drink a big glass of stfu. You’re the hysterical one.

To be fair, there was much they didn’t understand about pandemics or how to effectively deal them back then.

Epidemiology took a major step forward there, and much was learned from it, apart from the medical treatments which also took a leap forward.

It wasn’t “US troops spreading it”. It is not even certain to this day exactly where it began. But troops from everywhere spread it. And the hagiography is so mixed in with wartime propaganda that it is probably impossible to unravel it today.
Even the name spanish flu reflects that fact that the outbreak could not be reported on in allied nations. It was legal to call it “Spanish”.

All the European powers had a presence in China and had trade back and forth. It’s considered likely that it started there and God only knows who brought it to war ravaged Europe.

No. Read the thread. Hardly any hysteria here.

Actually checked another thread looking for you. How do you feel about Brooklyn vs. Manhattan fight and winner takes on Queens?

"...George Soros made his fortune by scaring people..."

Especially his fellow citizens who were Jews trying to hide from the Nazis.

George Soros made his fortune by scaring people.

Wow. Now THAT is an astute observation.

Can Coronavirus be transmitted even to the most remote arctic villages by passenger pidgeons?

That was a damned important factor in the 1918 pandemic.

Actually there was a depression in the early 20’s but the government reacted properly, they cut taxes and spending and let the market deal with it, then we got the roaring 20’s.

Just get a calculator 60,000,000 divided by .1% = 60,000. It's an EXTREMELY low rate of death for flu compared to this virus.

But it was obvious that wartime conditions made the spread of the flu much easier. What spread COVID-19 in China so fast was 1) Wuhan is THE major transportation hub for central China, which made its spread relatively easy and 2) the high density of China's population accelerated its spread.

The generally accepted figure for the four year Bubonic Plague is that it wiped out 35% of the population of Europe though it varied widely from country to country.

It varied widely even within countries. Remember, this hit about two decades into the hundred years war (1337-1453) which was a mixture of hot and cold wars.

Entire villages in the French mainland were wiped out where another village just a few miles away might be nearly unscathed. At the beginning of the war, the Kingdom of France covered the area around Paris plus most of the southern and eastern provinces (close to the World War II boundaries of Vichy France). Normandy and Norman-English aligned provinces covered most of the North and West. Joan of Arc was betrayed and sold to the English by Burgundy, a province of modern France. Scotland was allied with the French.

By the time it ended, England controlled little more than the enclave around Calais on the French mainland (plus the Islands of Jersey and Guernsey). So the reality is that the French won.

But the plague, even more than the war, reduced the population of Europe so much that Feudalism begin to crumble and was replaced by the renaissance and a rising middle class as worker wages were bid up. The war would continue unabated (save for normal periods of cold war) for most of the next 100 years, but transformative die was cast more by the plague itself than subsequent events in the war, including the stunning English victory at Agincourt (1415) and the Treaty of Troyes (1420), which seemingly ended the war in England's favor. Then along came Joan of Arc.
