Sepsis, an infection that kills millions worldwide each year and is the third leading cause of death in the United States, may have finally met its match.
Paul Marik, the EVMS Foundation Distinguished Professor in Internal Medicine, Professor of Internal Medicine and Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, believes he has developed a cure for the life-threatening infection. His treatment breakthrough promises to revolutionize sepsis care and produce results that are nothing short of astonishing.
Vitamin C is often used intravenously as part of a treatment for cancer.
Hydrocortisone is used to relieve inflammation and for a variety of conditions from arthritis to asthma.
Thiamine is a vitamin.
Sepsis is the leading cause of death among hospitalized patients.
As a critical-care physician and head of the general intensive care unit (GICU) at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Dr. Marik used to be locked in a struggle with sepsis. Despite his efforts, one to two people under his care died each week from the disease. That all changed unexpectedly Jan. 5, 2016.
The breakthrough came as Dr. Marik struggled to save a woman dying from overwhelming sepsis. He had recently read about vitamin C as a potential treatment for sepsis, and he recalled that steroids, a common treatment for sepsis, might work well in concert with the vitamin C.
Aware that both were safe and would not harm the patient, he gave her the vitamin C and steroid combination intravenously.
Within hours, his patient was recovering. Two days later she was well enough to leave the ICU.
Dr. Marik and is colleagues were astonished.
In the following days they used the combination therapy on two more patients seemingly destined to die of sepsis. Twice more the patients recovered. Dr. Marik and his team quickly adopted the combination therapy as standard practice.

Declare your position in this matter, please, before we continue.
I don’t have a position.
There is evidence for and emerging evidence against. The evidence against is a multicenter randomized, controlled trial, from Jan 2020, and such studies can be difficult to refute. I did not read the article, just the abstract.
I’m just putting the data out there.
Thank you.
IV vitamin C at my doctor is only around $160 per bag, and the dosage is anywhere from 25 to 100 grams depending on measurements which can determine optimal dosage.
It used to be a lot more, but as it becomes more common the cost will continue to drop.
Amygdalin is not a viable stand alone treatment for any cancer. It can be helpful, but any successful treatment has many layers, so if your relative relied upon laetrile (amygdalin) alone, that was a losing proposition from the start. This is talked about at cancertutor.com
There is a new approach to cancer which looks at how abnormal cells produce energy in the mitochondria and seeks to shut down those metabolic pathways. If you can shut down every method a tumor cell uses to produce energy, then the cancer cells will die, especially when put under stress. Jane McLellan has written a seminal book on this subject, “How to Starve Cancer”. It is not about diet. The amazing find that she highlights is that there are many cheap drugs which can be used to shut down abnormal cell metabolism such as Metformin, Doxycycline, Mebendazole, Lipitor. The “big pharma” companies know about the off-purpose uses of these drugs, but they either do not want to engage in billion dollar studies to get them approved for new uses, or they do not see any profit since they are off patent.
They can also be taken in parallel with Chemo and radiation, making those choices more effective.
Interesting info....this from the 1970s...Dr. Klenner on uses of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Thank you. The introduction to the paper above is here now.
Journal of Applied Nutrition Vol. 23, No’s 3 & 4, Winter 1971
Observations On the Dose and Administration of Ascorbic Acid When Employed Beyond the Range of A Vitamin in Human Pathology
Frederick R. Klenner, M.D., F,C,C.P.
Editor’s Note:
Because of the unusually high amounts of ascorbic acid used in Dr. Klenner’s treatment, as reported in his paper, we asked him to verify amounts mentioned. Following is his answer:
“To the Editor of the ICAN Journal: This will confirm that all ‘quantity’ factors given in my paper are correct and can be confirmed from hospital and medical office records. The notation relative to 150 grams represents the amount used for reversing pathology in a given case and was the amount given over a period of 24 hours. (The I.V. was continuous.)
This was given in three bottles of 5D water, decanting only enough from 1000 cc to be replaced by the ‘C’ ampules.
“Recently the FDA has published a ‘warning’ that too much soda-ascobate might be harmful, referring to the sodium ion.
In reply to this I can state that for many years I have taken 10 to 20 grams of sodium ascorbate by mouth daily, and my blood sodium remains normal. These levels are checked by an approved laboratory. 20 grams each day and my urine remains at or just above pH 6.”
