Ping for another very scary data point
Seems pretty empty for a pandemic virus.
I was surprised at how many modern cars were out front.
Brave guy...they will put you in jail for reporting like that.
At least all the people working in the hospital were too busy to notice or care what he was doing.
That poor guy who lost his father while he was filming — heartbreaking.
I worked in China Oct 1976 to April 1977. At that time, there was not a SINGLE privately owned automobile in the entire country (I worked in three different provinces from far north to far south and transited through Beijing, Chengdu, and Harbin). The transformation of that country in 45 years is truly astonishing.
There are quite a few Wuhan videos on YT.
The lack of people is not necessarily a good thing in this case and probably the sign to the contrary.
Compared to the bedlam we were seeing last week this is somewhat reassuring.
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
So yeah I’ll be honest that I said they were still a 3rd world country in ways.
How’s about healthcare?
Infrastructure like roads, etc. reaching all corners of the country?
And the ability to get needed medications and equipment to the four corners or do they have good hospitals in pretty much every town now?
Thanks in advance.
I guess you haven’t been there since 1977 but I’m thinking maybe you took a long term interest in the country and kept up more than others.
:)
That took place mostly over last 10-15 years. China is a l bigger car market than US now. They have good wages. Even blue collars may afford a Buick or VW which are their most popular.

Yeah the last video that was sneaked out showed a disaster and MANY, MANY more people.
But it doesn’t make sense. We know a large number of people still have this.
What COULD be happening is, as we read yesterday, Plan B is in effect, which is putting steel structures in front of people’s windows and doors so they are entombed in their own houses!!
Hard to get to the hospital that way.
There are videos with hysterical people screaming 100 thousands infected and thousands dead, some citing doctors on that but it lack any visual value to it.
bkmk
China is amazingly transformed; but it is still third world in regard to sanitation, air pollution, clean water, toilets,
and food safety.
Love the people, but the government is a tyranny.

The Chinese “cities” we keep hearing about are more like massive suburbs with a lower population density than Staten Island. They are cities in the way Staten Island or Nassau or Suffolk counties are cities. There’s a lot of room for automobiles.
A *LITTLE* worse?
I’d say a LOT worse.
Thank you
Did not see any ECMO machines - make sure your local hospital has an ECMO machine
