At Diet Doctor, we are very clear about defining low-carb. We define ketogenic low carb diets as less than 20 grams of net carbs per day, moderate low carb as 20-50 grams per day, and liberal low carb as 50-100 grams per day. Assuming a 2,000 kcal diet, that equates to <4%, <10% and <20% of total calories.
-snip-
The latest nutritional epidemiology study out of Harvard, published this week in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, is another misrepresentation of low-carb diets.
-snip-
The lowest of the low-carb eaters still sourced 46% of their calories from carbohydrates. That was the lowest! That is more than twice the amount of our highest level, the liberal low-carb diet, defined as less than 20% carbs. That is really all we need to know about the study. It is painfully clear that any of the conclusions have nothing to do with a low-carb diet.

Well thats quite an anecdote you have there but theres no scientific evidence to back up what youre saying is the case.
Propaganda.
Find a support group. A couple of middle age plus people I follow are Serious Keto (youtube) and 2krazyketos (youtube, they also have a great Facebook group). They both have incredible testimonies.
If you do decide on this life, start by "detoxying" your house and dispose of/donate all of your carb foods and artificial oils (seed/canola). Fill cabinets with healthy fats, almond flour, coconut flour. Fill your fridge with fatty meats, full fat cheese, heavy cream, butter, and low carb veggies. If you like chips, pork rinds.
Take a vacation for your withdrawal week.
Electrolytes. Carb withdrawal will result in your body burning through stored glucose. There are lots of water molecules bound to glucose molecules that will be flushed and they will pull out electrolytes when they go.
Eat as low carb as you can go to break the carb addiction.
Eat fat as much as you need to stay full during withdrawal.
Salt under the tongue when you crave carbs (sweets).
Premake a nice, rich, low carb dessert for awhile. Depends on your social/work life temptations and will power, but people will tempt you, snacks brought to work, etc. Have your outlet easily available.
People will say "oh, a little bit won't hurt," but most little bits will be over 20 net carbs and you will be out of ketosis.
Record and cherish the non-scale victories (NSV). If you have chronic pain, you will see a reduction. If you bloat when you eat, it will stop. You will eventually find weightloss to be an added benefit but the other wins will overwhelm it.

Thank you.
Less processed, machine-made, salted and sugared foods.
Naturally! LOL!
I replied to what you posted as basically the same message and maybe this works for you but via personal experience (and that if my wife and other family) it doesnt work for us
Ill add that wife was strict paleo as well pre pregnancies and throughout and offspring have been since beginning with strict breast milk to intro of beef/lamb marrow and fat, salmon roe, and some puréed squash and yams with a switch to solid meats by 9 months. Not only are they healthy as hell, never sick more than a day or two, and tower over peers both in height and strength but have developed jaws as well and are almost certain to be able to keep their wisdom teeth permanently
Go ahead and eat what the government wants you too.. more of the good stuff for us
Someday when you feel like reading something interesting look up epigenetics
Exactly what government study or agency promotes is strictly whole food, plant-based diet?
Good job with the kids. I did not have the wisdom available while raising my kids and we are suffering the impact of food nutrition recommendations now.
Check out keto-mojo.com for great info.
Which chronic diseases?
Look at their food pyramid, look at the fact half the studies support that, and then dig around and see where the grant money comes from for most of the research that says eat plants
Yeah, at first I was looking for “fat bomb” recipes that tasted good and were easy to make. I’m over that now.
Yesterday I had a three egg and cheese omelette for lunch, then a one pound strip steak for dinner.
>>Less processed, machine-made, salted and sugared foods.<<
My lovely wife is an RN, CDE(certified diabetes educator), and a whole string of other things certified. For years I’ve read all the latest fad diets, and all of them fail eventually.
The single biggest thing people can do is eliminate the “whites” from their diet: Flour, Sugar, Pasta and Potatoes. Although moderation can be used with potatoes and pasta, but NO sugar at all.
A very simple thing everyone can do for one month is to stop buying bread in any form for home consumption. Just dont buy that loaf of bread and you will lose weight
Of course not, it would not fit the propaganda agenda. Just like used motor oil causing cancer. Still not one proven case of this yet, all propaganda based on an agenda.
Now matter what “science” spouts, I have personal hands on experience from working with these extremists. They are absolutely worthless in a work environment that requires any physical strength or quick thinking.
Yep, wife and I are the same.. raised on cheap crap (our families didnt know better) and suffered some consequences from it (primarily cavities and such) and therefore have been determined to make sure ours dont have to deal with that stuff
My 4 yr old has probably had less than the equivalent of a cup of sugar and maybe 2 of flour since birth- and it shows. Its not easy we spend more on groceries than we do on housing (and that isnt cheap here) but its worth every penny
The research is funded by the “there is 471 genders” and “global warming is real” crowd.
I have eyes in the front of my head for a reason. With limited exception (coffee, tea, spices, herbs, and wine), I swore off consuming plants. Enjoy you indigestible plant matter and toxins.
“Look at their food pyramid, look at the fact half the studies support that, and then dig around and see where the grant money comes from for most of the research that says eat plants”
Yep... And check the political leanings of the research sources. Pretty self explanatory and obvious.
Thats pretty typical for me as well , I Only eat between 11 am and 7pm most of the time, giant egg and meat breakfast and beef and broccoli or similar for dinner , usually have a pile of cashews for afternoon snack if I need it
For the last 10 or 15 years Ive basically assumed if the gift, big media, or instructions such as Harvard, etc recommend something its probably best to do the opposite
