My lovely wife is an RN, CDE(certified diabetes educator), and a whole string of other things certified. For years I’ve read all the latest fad diets, and all of them fail eventually.
The single biggest thing people can do is eliminate the “whites” from their diet: Flour, Sugar, Pasta and Potatoes. Although moderation can be used with potatoes and pasta, but NO sugar at all.
A very simple thing everyone can do for one month is to stop buying bread in any form for home consumption. Just dont buy that loaf of bread and you will lose weight
