Today’s Cryptogram

Posted on 01/20/2020 2:54:14 AM PST by nikos1121

Today’s CG from The Arkansas Gazette. I’m guessing everyone will get this under 2 minutes.....

TZ VYFQ MYUOE EUAZF WI GWYPSKZ QW NWOE MSGA QNZ IOWWE WI IZSP. —VSPQUD OYQNZP AUDK XP.

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

2019 Cryptogram Solvers Hall of Fame

Over the next few days I will list the names of Today’s CG puzzle solvers admitted to THE HALL OF FAME

The selection is based on the consistency of effort, fun, creative, sometimes goofy and lively commentary, and their general enthusiasm.

In addition their choice reflects their skill and temerity of purpose in the solving of these daily CGs and their support for this posting.

On February 26th, (The first day of Lent), I will name three Hall of Famers, and give a $25 donation to Free Republic in their behalf.

Congratulations to Today's Cryptogram Hall of Famer: ComputerGuy;

ComputerGuy, has been a solid CG solver for a long time. Loyal in his service to our country and to this forum. Congrats!

Solution to our last puzzle:

TAKE CALCULATED RISKS. THAT IS QUITE DIFFERENT FROM BEING RASH. —GEORGE S. PATTON

Hmmm. Look at the last two letters of the author’s name. If that isn’t a tip off, stop trying cryptograms. As a puzzle, too easy. Title and last name of author would have offered more of a challenge:

ZDMDZDHN GFHC

Judging from the contents of this puzzle’s character(s)...
took me *way* too long.

I know. I know.

The Cryptoquotes in the Arkansas Gazette are seldom related to current events, but it seems like they are of late.

I will make it a point to avoid those in the future.

I almost feel compelled to post another CG for today.
