Heart disease communicable?
That’s silly.
Hear, try my cheddar spaghetti...
Agree:
>>Your gut microbiome is incredibly complex and one of the least understood yet most important aspects of human health. <<
What most posters don’t seem to get is the article is saying is that a persons microbiome is transferable to a healthy spouse or another non-blood related person. I finder that possible but chilling at the same time. Will people with Rheumatic diseases be isolated? How about heart disease or diabetes.
What is a “microbiome”? Can it cause democrat?
Boy I’m 51 and there were (disgusting) times in my life into my FORTIES where I would eat a whole box of oreos at bedtime. Maybe 3 or more times a week for years while I was home recovering from an injury.
The rest of my diet at that time wasn’t any better.
My diet Before the injury wasn’t so great!
My weight went to horrific levels and when I got better I still ate terribly for another 5 years.
For 5 years now, at 51, i’ve been eating what I CALL a healthy diet. That’s a laugh :) But it’s not nearly like it was.
Yet my fasting tests never showed anything close to diabetes.
You read some health websites and it sounds like eating 4 Twinkies at one sitting one time can cause diabetes.
Perhaps it is genes.
Anyhow, i’m done taking chances or testing God’s patience.
It’s just odd that I didn’t get it.
“Your gut microbiome is incredibly complex and one of the least understood...”
I sure don’t understand my gut!
“They need to set the bs if it harms others argument that they use to justify tobacco regulation and taxes.”
Double BS for sure. I recently read some quasi medical quack assert that going outside to smoke was still harmful to those indoors!
metformin is a fine drug but you can be diabetes free. The key is intermittent fasting. The Diabetes Code explains it all. He has clinics where people walk out med free and diabetes free.
I’ve read that folks who survive stomach surgery to reduce weight also no longer have the diabetes disease...
I recall reading, a few years ago, that the bugs in you gut can excrete chemicals that cause you to crave the foods that the bug wants and lives on.
Massive numbers of people from other parts of the world are migrating both legally and illegally into the country every year with almost no health screening at all. So I doubt that any attempts will be made to isolate people with diseases that are currently considered to be not contagious for a long time.
One time I was attending to a person with poor English skills who kept coughing in my face while he was trying to communicate something to me. I finally realized that he was pulling me close and saying “tee .... bee”. After that experience I was tested several times for tuberculosis and had less difficulty remembering to wear my protective gear.
Remember there are two types of diabetes.
I am a Type 1, but I still have people tell me if I lose weight or do some diet they’d heard about it will “go away”.
It’s such a pain planning everything you eat and having to compute insulin boluses.
“This is the stupidest thing I have ever read”
That’s really saying something..given the many stupid things posted on FR.
“What is a microbiome? Can it cause democrat?”
Finally, a good question. The answer is:
Only if it reaches the brain.
I know a person who had a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band installed. It is not considered to be a dangerous surgery and typically requires no hospitalization. After she lost a couple hundred pounds she had no more difficulty with type 2 diabetes.
I used to believe that the surgery was completely unneccesary, but after witnessing the results from people who struggled with obesity for decades... I an now an advocate.
I bet taking antibiotics changes peoples’ microbiomes.
I can believe THAT! My gut wants Sugar...and it’s a daily battle.
