Both of my parents have had major heart attacks, my younger brother passed away a few months ago from a sudden heart attack; leaving me as the only one who hasnt had one.
My moms heart disease is from an inherited trait of high lp(a) levels. At the recommendation of the ME who performed my brothers autopsy I saw a cardiologist. My lp(a) levels are also high. I felt as though despite a radically different diet than the rest of my family I had, nevertheless, received a death sentence. The cardiologist ordered a cardiac CT scan to see just how bad my arteries are. The results surprised him-no calcification and no plaque build up. The nurse said it left him unsure of what to do next, based on family history and blood tests I should be in worse shape.
The major difference between how I eat vs my biological family probably affects my gut the most. I limit sugar and avoid corn syrup as much as possible. I also avoid artificial sweeteners and hydrogenated fats. I eat lots of vegetables and natural animal fats. The one vegetable oil I use is olive oil. We also drink (for the most part) raw milk, partially skimmed. I love fermented foods-sauerkraut, sourdough bread and kombucha.
It could also be divine intervention keeping me here for my younger kids. Who knows. But if the past 17 years of eating a somewhat natural, low sugar diet has helped; then Im deeply grateful for the friend who gave me a copy of Sally Fallons Nourishing Traditions.
If the science is good should that not be communicated?
>>So I doubt that any attempts will be made to isolate people with diseases that are currently considered to be not contagious for a long time.<<
This type of article is what causes a panic by the uninformed via social media or the old fashion gossip line. Imagine the possibility this article is picked up by a msm outlet and goes through the social media onslaught as we see so often. Although baseless at this time this type of information could cause real panic where suddenly people are for no reason isolated, taunted or other more serious treatments...
>>If the science is good should that not be communicated?<<
Good science or not it could create a problem.
Right—and if it is a communicable gut bio issue, then that presumably can be ameliorated.
Well, if this is the case, I must share a microbiome with my dog.
The only people that will be isolated will be American citizens...
Is this what happened to people suffering from peptic ulcers? Your fears are not likely to become reality any time soon. Even people sick and some dying from diseases that are known to be communicable are typically not isolated in our society these days. At the beginning of the HIV epidemic Cuba, a communist sh@t hole isolated people identified to be infected and maintained one of the lowest infection rates in the world for a decade.
The article you posted noted that 70% of deaths from disease are from causes currently are from illness not thought to be contiguous. If a massive amount of misery and death could be averted by taking proper precautions then that would obviously a good way to start. Unfortunately, our society currently makes few attempts to even isolate those with known contagious disease.
Yes...antibiotics do change the gut. I know someone who was given them in the hospital without pro-biotics and he got c-diff. Finally after more than 2 weeks of c-diff he was given a fecal transplant which cured the c-diff symptoms.
Genetics certainly plays a part, as does choice (diet, exercise, alcohol, smoking, sleep, and on and on). History is replete with people supposedly in great shape who die young, and then there is someone like Keith Richards...who looks like death and probably should have died 40 yrs ago, who still rocks on. Some things you can control, some things you cant.
Im thinking potentially Alzheimers too. Anything with gut bugs is transmissible. Sleeping, eating, intimacy with others. Why else do fecal transplants work to heal people?
A microbiome is not the same as a microbone. Those poor guys.
LOL...I’d bet there’s a lot of truth in that. Know what you mean!
Out of curiosity, have you ever tried anything like the keto diet?
But that doesn’t mean the truth shouldn’t be shared.
Gut biomes can be modified anyway.
Seriously excess sugar can wreak havoc beyond diabetes.
No.
Im skinny enough.
Oh thank heavens. In the immortal words of Jake Blues “It wasn’t my fault...”.
I mean for the diabetes, not the weight loss.
“A microbiome is not the same as a microbone. Those poor guys.”
Think of their wives, FGS. “Where is it?”
