This will be an impeachment with an asterisk “*”. It is a first in many ways, so it will be talked about in history classes and beyond for a long time.
Which means people will be talking and comparing the impeachments of BJCLinton and Trump (who beat BJ’s wife in an election)...for a long time. And as the current political leftist hacks w/ their psychological illness in radical demokrap politics die off, a picture (the truth) will emerge and the demokraps in Congress and media will be known as the vindictive, corrupt, hypocrite, losers not worthy to be any where near the levers of the people’s government. Trump will be seen as one completely from the outside and look what the vast political machine did. He will also be the first POTUS re-elected despite the impeachment, which undercuts the demokraps even more - the people rejecting their abuse of power called impeachment.
My sense on the street, unlike Clinton’s, is a big yawn. Many average people can cite at least one of Clinton’s felonies; but exactly what is it that Trump did wrong - the average person doesn’t know. This is a DC-media event. Trump appears to have lawyered up quite well.
I don’t know why we rarely hear about this law, as it is pertinent to the whole Ukraine/Biden, Ukraine/Pelosi, Ukraine/Clinton, Ukraine/Dems corruption:

I have another theory.
Pelosi is trying to maneuver Bloomberg to take on Trump. Bloomberg is the only candidate that can intellectually go one-on-one with Trump on the economy and he will fund his own campaign, so the broke DNC can concentrate on holding the House and gaining in the Senate.
The plan is to take all Senators off of the trail until Super Tuesday.
And, to watch the Trump Impeachment turn into the Biden Impeachment. Nancy is setting up Biden. Biden’s candidacy will not survive Hunter’s testimony. Bernie and Lie-awatha will hold in the voting and set up a no clear winner, second-round ballot at the DNC convention. Mayor Pete will try and be the VP, but Bloomberg will pick Klobachar to get the centrist female vote.
Unfortunately for Nancy, Trump will be acquitted and will win. Democrat blacks and democrats in fly-over country will not vote for a Jewish New York billionaire who is “buying the election”.
And, the “Bernie or Bust” people (I want that bumper sticker) have sworn that they will vote for Trump out of spite if Bernie is not the nominee.
Add any indictments, and this is a real circus. Buy popcorn.

They know that can change that if they get a parade of nationally televised witnesses to transform a telephone call into a felony. In my view Mitch is the real problem here. He is the only one who has the position to shut down the sh*t show. I don’t trust him as far as I can throw my car. If this was Schmukie they would have killed this 3 hours after the articles were sent. We need somebody credible in Kentucky to declare they are going to primary Mitch right now.

None of these pie in the sky fantasies are going to come true.
There will be a very ugly trial and Trump will be acquitted for one reason. He’s too popular to remove.
The next investigation of Trump will be unveiled as soon as this trial ends.
Unless, of course, the impeachment is clearly shown at trial to have been a criminal coup attempt.
In the future, as long as we don't go over to the world of Orwell's 1984, this impeachment will be seen as a black stain on the democratic party.

Even money you are exactly right. It seems to the most likely outcome to me. There are at least 4-6 GOP Senators ready to give the rats their circus and no sign Mitch has any intention of getting them in line so yes a long miserable show is about to unfold l think.
I agree with your outcome. But I also think what I wrote is what Nancy is trying to do to avoid Trump winning the 2020 election and the destruction of the Democrat party.
This is their “hail Mary” pass.
And, I agree they are likely to try and impeach him again.
Earlier in 2019, Trump mentioned taking the whole impeachment process in the Constitution to the SCOTUS to try and get a ruling that a Federal crime must be proven in the House in order to impeach. To do that requires a display of actual abuse of power by the House, which is happening in front of us.
You couldn't be more wrong. Its all about Ukraine corruption and protecting US aid, before releasing the money.
The did it with Justices Thomas and Kavanaugh. That's what they do. They broke the fragile social compact decades ago.

When the President gets up in front of the Senate, the wacko Senator pulls out their sneaked-in pistol and shoots the President. As they’re swarmed over by Secret Service, they shout out “I saved the country!”. As soon as this happens, an accomplice, nearby the Vice President, shoots him as well. Third in line? Pelosi.
As soon as she’s sworn in, she nominates her VP...and it’s none other than Felonia VonPantsuit. No sooner than she is sworn in, ‘President Pelosi’ resigns due to ‘her ill health and the burden of the office’, and HRC becomes President...like she always thought she deserved.
The US becomes Hell on Earth as Her Royal Thighness takes revenge on all us ‘little people’ who didn’t vote for her and denied her in 2016.
Yes...I believe my over-active imagination got the best of me this morning. What’s more likely? President Trump is acquitted, the Dems look even more like fools than they already do, and in 10 months, President Trump is re-elected.
Politics is a game of give-and-take. It occurs to me that the Democrats are going to have to give something in order for them to achieve their goal, which is as you say, bringing Trump down.
And what they may have to give up here is Biden. They may allow testimony against Biden which will effectively ruin him and remove him from the race. But oh well.
He is a small price to pay if there is a chance of getting rid of President Trump.
I really hope they are thinking about this strategy. Because it will not work. Trump will be the winner in the end.
The impeachment will be a matter of the historic record, that is true.
Historians have largely discredited the Andrew Johnson impeachment. History may well judge Donald Trump’s impeachment as being just a sham and politically-motivated.
You know that and I know that but the irrelevant, panicked democrats are grasping at the impeachment straw.
