From our "People do the stupidest things" file, a story out of Mississippi demonstrates the unlimited capacity of human beings to surprise and amaze us. In this case, our amazement is directed at the incredible stupidity of which people are capable.
Two men walked into the Mississippi Lottery Corporation claim center and presented a scratch ticket that they said was worth $100,000. It must have looked pretty fishy because lottery employees immediately called the police.
Incredibly, the two men tried to pass off a losing lottery ticket by gluing the winning numbers on to the ticket.

I know, huh? LOL
Them dang bar codes . . . they’ll get you every time!
Did they go to Arizona State?

This same kinda thing happened here in Florida in 1988 when our lottery first started. Didn’t take long for it to stop...............
guess you can’t fix stupid
I guess the raised numbers gave them away?
Here in MS they use it to fund Roads first. After a certain amount of Money is raised, it goes into Education.
They refuse to raise Gas Taxes here so they are using the Lottery to get some badly needed Money. Currently the Gas Tax is $.18 a Gallon and the average price of Regular is about $2.50.
Next door in LA the Gas Tax is $.20 but the price is typically $.20 LESS per Gallon than in MS. I can only attribute that to LA having a thriving Petroleum based Economy.
To be frank, Public Education in MS sucks. There are numerous Private Schools here. Anyone of “means” sends their Kids to Private School and many Families of less means figure out a way to do it. They will sacrifice having a nicer House or Car to pay the Tuition.
The State is always ranked 49 or 50 in quality Education, but that is only data from Public Schools. It is a misnomer.

“Lets just say I have already reinvested half my Winnings, but it funds Road Infrastructure and Education.”
Yeah sure it does. Just like in IL it goes to “education funding”. I’ve got a great bridge over I-80 that I could sell you cheap!
They never catch the smart ones...
Should have forked over the money to them. They would have spent it and it would have been back in the lottery fund in no time.
What were they gonna lose?
“Wilbur, whats a bar code?”
I wonder the same thing. Maybe we should ask Jon Tapper.
It was worth a try
Only lottery officials are allowed to cheat
I mean, this is over in neighboring Mississippi. When you’re jonesing for a case of Thunderbird and some grape-flavored Swisher Sweets, there’s no lengths you won’t go to.
That and the glue.................
I was raised in Benton County, north MS between Tupelo and Memphis in the 60’s. Public schools there were excellent, but segregated. Don’t know what it’s like now.............
And the bar code as well?
