As a native Texan, some of my earliest memories involve Whataburger. I love Whataburger. It's always been a matter of pride that me and Whataburger share the same birth city, Corpus Christi, Texas.
As a youngster, I remember the Whataburger on 14TH street in Kingsville, Texas. Since those days, I have always seen Whataburger as a step above any "fast food" burger out there. I absolutely love that I can walk into a Whataburger at 7 AM and order a burger. So the sellout to a Chicago investment company hit me hard.
I tried to maintain a wait and see attitude. Well, I can confirm the worst. The food quality and portion size are down.
Monday before Christmas I walked into the same Whataburger I have visited many times and ordered my usual. 38 minutes later, I had my burger and fries, which I had ordered to go. (I never go through the drive through, just a thing).
My order was wrong, not like I got somebody elses order, just wrong. Nothing what I had asked for happened. The burger was noticeably smaller ,and was the worst burger I've ever had from Whataburger.
It hurts me to the core to say this, but I'm done with Whataburger. It's right up there with McDonalds as far as I'm concerned/
I still remember them. Very good burgers and fries!
California style, only way to go.
yup, culvers. but again, not all restaurants do it as good as the other one. The closest one near us is the worst, they dont scrape off the griddle surface after each batch and you get that crusty acrilamide type buildup that tastes crunchy and bad. The ones further away from us do it right all the time regardless of how much traffic they have.
I love Whataburger, but try Hopdoddy and Twisted Root.
You’re welcome.
Agree on Twisted Root. Its my second favorite after Becks Prime. I go to Whataburger for the breakfast biscuits their burgers to me are nothing special. Hopdoddy is good but crowded and pricey - so I dont go there.
We had two Whataburger franchises here in Gainesville, FL. They were okay but nothing special. They closed within 2 or 3 years.
Giving up on a favorite hamburger place because they got an order wrong? And the fact you waited over 30 minutes makes me think the real problem here is you
I never cared for Whataburger.
Frankly, I don’t care for take-out burgers, generally.
I get the Triple Protein-Style burgers at In-N-Out.
>>>In-N-Out Burgers are the very best bang for the buck. Great taste and great price.
Better than McD, Burger King, Whataburger, etc. I love their onions.
>>> Five Guys are very good also BUT, they are seriously Overpriced.
Theirs are more like restaurant burgers, hence the price.
>>> Culvers. Great burgers. Great price.
I meant to try them but got distracted by their shrimp. Which was good, by the way.
Love “Whataburger”, but if you’re talkin’ Corpus Christi - you need to start with Rudy’s.
We have a local one with good staff and there’s no problem...wipe the tears away and get a life.
If this is the biggest “problem” you have, it’s a great day.
Thank You for the Ping. I knew those bassturds were going to ruin the Ledgend in spite of the smoke they blew up everyones A$$ about nothing would change.
The sellouts need a Texas Necktie Party.
RIP WHATABURGER ...
I was told on FR that Whataburger just had to be tried, so as I drove through Texas I tried it. It sucked.
“In and out.”
Unfortunately, while a good burger, it is very similar to Freddy’s and Steak & Shake. As we drove through Texas we searched out an I&O. It wasn’t anything special; it was good, but not worth the hype.
The perfect burger is made at home on a grill with 8 ounces of quality beef (per burger).
“Culvers butter burgers.”
A better burger, but they take about 15 minutes to deliver here in Colorado. It’s just far too long to wait for fast food.
“The perfect burger is made at home on a grill with 8 ounces of quality beef (per burger).”
Totally agree. It also has to be on a good bun. These fast food buns are made to resist rotting. A good bun is one that is fresh baked and butter grilled. I have found I make my own burger more often now.
For fries, just get a deep fryer and the fries are something you just cannot get at a fast food joint anymore. We used to get good fries prior to about 1993, but not anymore, so I make my own.
used to love butter burgers but unfortunately they have shrunk to the size of a slider with the same price. Don’t stop there anymore.
