I received word from 2ndDivisionVet wife that he passed away.
I am not using his real name here out of respect but, will ping his handle and his wife can if she would like.
I didn't ask what he died from but, knowing him for better than 10 years, I knew of medical conditions and a few terrible Operations he had.
He was a wonderful human being who cared deeply for his fellow Americans and the ideals that make this country so great that people the world over want to come here and be free, live in liberty and be whoever they want
If you have ever spoke with 2ndDivisionVet, you know he was quick witted and wry.
What had always amazed me about him was not just his humor but, his ability to somehow take life in stride despite all he endured and be cheerfull.
He was amazingly resourceful in scouring the web for article we might find interesting.
Yes, 2ndDivisionVet really cared about all of us and our presence in his life gave him purpose
I really wish God had let him stay but, my thoughts are more selfish than the absolute knowledge that he is in a better place.
I hope to see him again one day.
Rest in peace and smile down on us 2ndDivisionVet
But he found his community here, and I am happy he found some peace this way, He posted so many threads, and as others have noted they included numerous mentions of employment opportunities.
I hope his loved ones can find some comfort in how loved he was on FR.
Sometimes, in grief, a little humor helps. As an example, when I die, I want the following headstone:
0x0000002A 0x00000FFF 0x0000005A 0x000000B1 Process unexpectedly shut down
Hey bro. Make sure he gets on the wall with a pointer to this honoring thread.
Much love to you and yours in this time of grief.
When I finally go, if a thread is made of it, all I ask is that I am sent off with humor and comedy.
I know, irreverent of me, but having lost so many close friends “in real life” I’d like my send-off to be different.
Just now able to read this awful and sad news. My deepest condolences to his family.
This can’t be happening! 2ndDivisionVet started all the best threads!
May the angels speed thee to thy home and rest, 2ndDivisionVet. We hardly knew ye!
RIP. He will be greatly missed here.
I am so sorry to hear this. 2DV, as I often called him, was an absolute Rock of Gibraltar here at FR. He will be missed - Big Time.
:-(
RIP
I always enjoyed his posts.
Rest in Peace, Warrior. We will see you on the other side.
A salute to 2nd Division Vet, and prayers for his family and friends!

Me too. Humor is so important to me, that I want my obituary thread to be filled with jokes and cutting-up.

Condolences to his family. He was a true patriot and proud American. His voice here will be missed.
You know Fred is in heaven laughing about that?
I Know I am!
