I received word from 2ndDivisionVet wife that he passed away.
I am not using his real name here out of respect but, will ping his handle and his wife can if she would like.
I didn't ask what he died from but, knowing him for better than 10 years, I knew of medical conditions and a few terrible Operations he had.
He was a wonderful human being who cared deeply for his fellow Americans and the ideals that make this country so great that people the world over want to come here and be free, live in liberty and be whoever they want
If you have ever spoke with 2ndDivisionVet, you know he was quick witted and wry.
What had always amazed me about him was not just his humor but, his ability to somehow take life in stride despite all he endured and be cheerfull.
He was amazingly resourceful in scouring the web for article we might find interesting.
Yes, 2ndDivisionVet really cared about all of us and our presence in his life gave him purpose
I really wish God had let him stay but, my thoughts are more selfish than the absolute knowledge that he is in a better place.
I hope to see him again one day.
Rest in peace and smile down on us 2ndDivisionVet
Go With God, dear 2DV.
Yes it was terrible for both of them, then needing to do some changes at home and not being physically able to do it. Several Freepers stepped in and helped them in different ways. He rose to the occasion and came back Strong. He will be missed, not perfect as none of us are. She will definitely need our Prayers.
RIP 2DV
A great contributor.
(prefer to ignore these too-frequent reminders of our mortality.)
He was always so worried about his wife’s health.
Truly a caring gentleman.
My immediate reaction is of such deep sadness it descends into physical pain.
But a tiny part says that perhaps on Nov 10 of all days it was the best plan he could make for his exit.
I never served but as I hope you all know I respect all who serve — and served. For so many years.
The best I have is my most snapped to it civvie salute. Hand clean and index finger to the top of the eyebrow.
And my deep sadness.
I will not emoji this.
Truly sad news.
RIP, 2DV
There were times when I thought he was holding FreeRepublic up all by himself.
Thank you for all your work, 2ndDivisionVet. It was a tremendous amount of work, and you did it very well.
Rest in peace.
I am so very sorry to read this. SecondDivisionVet was one of the good guys. A stand up American and Patriot. Rest In Peace.
Very sad news.. God bless him..
Heart hurt, we are, to hear this sad news. What a huge loss to our FReeper Family, of friendship, a little humor and All American patriotism.
May our Lord be pleased to receive our forever friend. Salute— dearest 2D. Rest now in Peace.
Sorry to hear. Good man.
God Bless and R.I.P. 2DV
Warm hugs and prayers for his wife. Indeed, his presence was huge. No matter what was going on in his life, he never failed to promote employment opportunities to all freepers. He will be greatly missed. Our loss is heaven’s gain and I do look forward to meeting him on the other side.
God bless
Eternal Rest, Grant Unto Him O Lord...
Condolences to his wife, family and friends. Sad to hear of his passing. He was a great poster and will be missed.
He’ll be missed and FreeRepublic not quite the same. Often felt a sense of completion after seeing 2DV weigh in on the threads and controversies. He always got to the heart of the subject at hand.
Not to mention it seemed the majority of threads were posted by him.
Yes. Always. And he encouraged folks to freepmail him so that he could help with resumes and links. He must have had a heart the size of Texas.
May he rest in peace.
