” Havent had one in a half century,”
Not quite 75 years ago, but the last time we had a silo filling crew, was the only time that I remember Mother making donuts and potato chips. Those were a treat for afternoon lunch. Best ever donuts, not so much a potato chip fan. I bet she used lard.
It was probably too hot in the kitchen and too much of a hassle to do that at any time. She would set up the kerosene stove to cook for the threshing crew in the summer.
When someone owns a name...it means that you can't use that same name on YOUR product.
The kid is not producing them. He bought them.
He could probably sell them if he repackaged them and just called them generic treats. As long as folks know theyre KK, then KK is liable for any problems
So if I want to sell my Dodge truck, I can’t advertise it as a Dodge.
I tend to agree with you. This kid may have been doing this on a larger scale than most, but buying brand name products and reselling them, even at a small mark-up, is common from kids school fund raisers to club functions to company snack shops. Its been common for as long as I can remember.
Hard times, but good memories, huh?
If the quality of the donut suffers over time, that is going to reflect on KK.
I think it’s more a matter of controlling the quality of the product that gets to the consumer.
"Same stuff? Umm, yeah. Okay I'll take a dozen"
I see Krispy Kreme donuts in grocery stores and convenience stores all the time. I know they’re not made there. What’s the problem with this guy?
The glaze seems to protect the dough.
Mmmmm.
Krispy Kreme has recourse should the store mishandle their product.
But not until that happens.
Huh?
Loss in sales? What loss in sales? He bought them!!!
Krispy Kreme is Heaven in a box.
I suspect the real problem is that KK has an under the table agreement with other donut franchises in the area not to infringe on each other’s territories. And I’ll bet if this entreprenour took this to court, he’d win.
He has no right to sell Krispy Kreme donuts under the Krispy Kreme name. That is a right exclusive to licensed franchise owners.
If he buys the donuts then sells them without any reference to KK, he’s probably in the “klear” ... at least until the food inspectors and tax men get wind of it.
😁👍👍👍👍👍
If you want a really good red-blooded American doughnut you need to find a shop run by a French trained Vietnamese family! No joke, they know how to make a doughnut!
KK in my area, always fresh, can watch the donuts being made and then boxed for you.
Yummmmmm. . .
Duncan Donuts is NOT fresh at all. . .
