Is so(or Not) Why?
Thats what I thought. I thought I was watching a video game the CGI was so bad.
I don’t go to movies either. But once in awhile, there’s something worth watching. Saw Downton Abbey movie and absolutely loved it.
Am going to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood next week. I was invited to the party at Sharon Tate’s house by my then BF, who was a friend of Jay Sebring. I said NO, so we didn’t go...Jay died that night and we didn’t. Plus, reviewers think Leonardo will get a second Oscar for his performance. Last movie a really enjoyed was The Aviator, based on life of Howard Hughes. Got DVDs from the library and spent an entire weekend watching...Leonardo got well-deserved Oscar for that one.
So that’s two movies in the last 10 years. No, four. “I Can Only Imagine” about a Christian singer. And Manchester by the Sea with Casey Afleck’s son who got an Oscar for his performance. It was about working class guys who turned down other opportunities because they were entirely loyal to each other....the quintessintional “Deplorables.”
You are right about that sub plot. The idea was fine but it was carried out really, really, badly.
I will watch it as soon as I can but that may be a long time. No movie theaters around here. When it comes out of blu ray then I will.
Abundant CGI, a good cast, and direction by Roland Emmerich assure that the film will be competent, fast-paced, and heavy on action, while likely to have stilted dialog, thin characterization, and historical inaccuracies. My guess is that it will be watchable and unapologetic about a great American victory.
Tora, Tora, Tora, is only about Pearl Harbor.
Yeah, casting Woody Harrelson is a definite strike against the movie.
Early reports and the teaser trailer indicate that they’re going to cover the sacrifice of the TBDs, as well as the preceding US carrier raids that everyone’s seemed to forget.
For those old people who haven’t kept track, the movie also shows the Japanese carriers correctly - turns out they weren’t caught with their entire air wings on deck. See the YouTube vid I posted above.
FWIIW - The director, Roland Emmerich, is German, an open homosexual, and actively supports the LGBTQ agenda.
Yes Tora, Tora, Tora, is about Pearl Harbor but “Midway” use a lot of the film footage from it.
I saw ToraX3 maybe 30 years ago and thought it a little boring. I ordered it on DVD a month ago and have now watched it 4 times. Each time it gets better.
The reason might be that I am bad about not paying attention and there was a lot of details. Every time I see it again, I catch things I missed before.
hopefully, not crazy, unrealistic CGI. Super hero abilities by regular humans that defy physics ruins it for me.
A movie about Coral Sea and Midway centered almost exclusively on the Yorktown might be the best way to tell the story from a single perspective. It could even be a two-parter.
The new movie will be kinda weird because it will start with Pearl Harbor, then the Doolittle Raid, and right on to Midway without touching upon the Coral Sea. (According to the synopsis on Wikipedia.)
I remember talking with the Naval History and Heritage Command historian who was assigned to be the adviser on the “Pearl Harbor” movie. He said the movie folks consistently ignored his council on what they were doing wrong while making the movie. He was very disappointed/ashamed to have had his name on the movie as the “Navy’s historical adviser” for it. I was a historian at the Army Center of Military History at the time of our talk.
I will. Payback for the Pearl attack.
And incorrect aircraft as stand-ins ....
Im going to see it. Id like to know more about it.
Well ... the Japanese lose.
And he lines his walls with dictators and communist leaders.
no.
saw the trailer. forced one-liners are cringe-worthy.
we need a conservative, non-hollywood movie studio in the US that doesn’t focus strictly on religious themed movies (you need more then just one theme)
i love movies... but not when they’re used as propaganda vehicles. i’d love to rip movie production out of the hands of the left.
