Is so(or Not) Why?
The first movie Midway, made back in 1976, was ruined by a silly romantic subplot involving a young Navy pilot and a Japanese girl. So it will be interesting to see how Hollywood ruins the remake.
I saw the Midway movie. One of the best war movies I have ever seen. Fonda, Mitchum, Ford, Heston great actors in great roles. I have yet to see the new cartoon version.
Oh, I don’t know. I was so excited to go see Pearl Harbor then to find Alec Baldwin playing Jimmy Doolittle. Doolittle, for heaven’s sake! I go like, “what the he...?”
No movie yet has adequately covered the sacrifice of the aviators that died enabling the SBDs to kill off the carriers.
Online reviews weren't too kind when viewing the trailers. To me they seem hyper technical but they are valid. Here is a sample:

How do you know? It’s not even out yet and reviews of the trailers are showing that it’s surprisingly realistic.
I dont like Woody Harrelson. Doesnt matter as I doubt Ill ever go to a theater again anyway.
How do you know that?

“Once the Department of Defense approved a production support agreement with the movies producers, the writers got busy working to get the script as accurate as practicable. Multiple script drafts were provided to the Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC). Those same historians viewed the rough and final movie productions.
The Midway movie writers and producers worked tirelessly with the Navy in script development and during production to keep the storyline consistent with the historic narrative. In a few small instances, some events portrayed were not completely consistent with the historical record. Revising them would have unnecessarily complicated an already ambitious retelling of a series of complicated military battles. The production was representative of what unfolded in the opening months of WWII in the Pacific and does justice to the integrity, accountably, initiative and toughness of the Sailors involved.
The naval historians who reviewed the production were impressed.
Im glad they did a movie about real heroes and not comic book heroes. Despite some of the Hollywood aspects, this is still the most realistic movie about naval combat ever made and does real credit to the courage and sacrifice of those who fought in the battle, on both sides, said the director of NHHC, retired Rear Adm. Sam Cox, who personally supported each phase of the historical review.
The commitment to getting it right matriculated to the actors honored to represent American heroes.”
I believe that while the primary story is the same, they will also follow different smaller sub plots.
Yes, I will give it a shot. I cant stand most of the movies that come out of Hollywood. But I will give this one a try.
I’m on the fence on this one. The previews look fairly interesting. However, the ads on TV say that it is “Based on the UNTOLD true story”. Definitely a “red flag” meaning it’s probably a lot of SJW crap.
Put me down as 60/40 in favor of seeing it.
Check out this animation on youtube; I thought it was excellent:

I don’t think he ever put out part two.

“The Battle of Midway movie releases on November 8. Let’s have a closer look at the trailer and provide some critique. Parts of it look alright, which was unexpected.”
It does look pretty good but who knows? They might do to Midway what Bruckheimer did to Pearl Harbor 20 years ago.

I intend to see it.
Most of the ships and aircraft types at Midway are no longer available to perform on screen, and everyone picks crappy real world replicas apart.
That's what got me interested.
Close to being ruined for me by that sympathetic PC relationship BS. Still liked the old movie, though.
Hope the new version will not say "But, Admiral, what will all the weapons firing do to the ecology and the natural animal habitats? Maybe we should surrrender instead." Probably not that far off.
I heard it will tell the real story of Midway. Women of color were not allowed to fly the missions. LGBTQ pilots made up 90% of the pilots. The Japs got offended because we called them Japs. And we so ruined the environment.
