HOUSTON — The Houston Astros have fired Brandon Taubman, the assistant general manager who came under fire for inappropriate comments he made during the team’s clubhouse celebration.

The Astros announced Taubman’s firing Thursday.

Sports Illustrated writer Stephanie Apstein reported during the Astros’ clubhouse celebrating after winning the American League Championship Series, Taubman allegedly shouted, “Thank God we got Osuna! I’m so f------ glad we got Osuna!” during the locker room celebration.

The Astros gave up and quit the World Series.

They may as well fire this guy.

Assistant GMs are expendable. They don’t hit. They don’t pitch. They don’t field. They’re not protected by a union.

It was childish and unprofessional. You do that in front of your employers and sometimes you don’t get a second chance.

Did this guy really deserve to be fired, or did some SJW reporter get butt-hurt? I read the article, and I'm not understanding why he was fired.

Maybe he got fired for thanking the Lord, rather than for the F word.

Three women reporters were upset over perceived innuendo? BFD. The Astros screwed the pooch on this one.

From what I gather, the investigation determined he said comments to taunt the women who were wearing domestic violence bracelets. They were upset by that and he lost his job. Were they wearing the bracelets to taunt the player? I haven’t seen that raised.

Weird. Osuna had just given up a game-tying homerun.

“Were they wearing the bracelets to taunt the player?”

The story does not indicate that an Astros player was being taunted.

No, it’s pretty Byzantine....apparently some chick reporter, hanging out in the men’s locker room was wearing a purple domestic violence support bracelet, and the GM asst was excited about a player with a domestic violence accusation.

So manager being happy about a good player who was accused of domestic violence, it happened in a wild celebration immediately after winning the pennant, burt happened in front of a chick, wearing a certain protest bracelet, and the manager should have known purple meant domestic violence... but he didnt, so the chick was triggered.

It’s all unclear how any of it relates to baseball.

Interesting. When the World Series started I was rooting for Houston, but now I'm happy to see the Astros Assholes down 0-2 after losing two games at home with their two best starting pitchers on the mound.
