Fatty acids found in baked goods and takeaways may put people at greater risk of dementia.

Trans fats, which are used to make cakes, biscuits, margarines and fried food, are not banned in the UK, although they are not commonly used.

Japanese researchers have now linked these fats to dementia, in a study of more than 1,600 people over 60.

Estimating people's consumption of trans fats using blood tests, they found those with the highest levels in their body were 52 per cent more likely to get dementia.

Evidence suggests trans fats may cause harmful inflammation and the build-up of a protein called amyloid, which are both linked to dementia.

Stick with pig fat.

For those living outside of Omaha, that is lard (manteca).

“trans fats”

We’re allowed to say that? Isn’t that homophobic and fatphobic?

How rude!

I’ll stick with my big fat juicy steak and hamburger.

These idiots have lied to us too long and so now everything they say is BS to me.

Their lies are killing Americans (making us obese and at huge risk of diabetes).

You have cried wolf too long.

Want soft supple hands?

Work a couple of tablespoons of lard into your next baking project.

The Japanese don’t have to deal with nearly the level of political influence in nutrition and health care overall, as we have to deal with. I would trust them, hands down, over ANYTHING that ‘official’ United States (or Western European) sources say, and this includes our big-time orgs like the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association.

They are all HORRIBLY CORRUPT - don’t believe a thing they say!

“Use DuckDuckGo—” Is lard a trans fat?””

Lard is GREAT, along with butter. If you want to understand what a Trans Fat is, simply think “Industrial Lubricant” which is what they were (before being marketed as a ‘food’ named margarine).

“ah who cares, we’re all gonna die some day.”
Death and taxes I’m not so sure about death. If you’re saying something is going to get you I understand. But don’t let it be you. There’s to much info available for everyone to improve their longevity dramatically.
