Roger that. A funeral director I know, once had the funeral for a man who died of C-J. The regulations say you don’t embalm or view at the visitation or funeral. The body, which is placed in a sealed bag upon death, is immediately sealed in a casket. I’m not sure, but I don’t think even cremation is allowed, lest biological carriers escape in the transferring around of the cadaver. etc. If the regs have changed; I would not know.
Kyrie is from eating nerve tissue from other humans.
You can do research on your own.
Kuru. “Kyrie” is Greek and is used in the old pre-vernacular Catholic mass.
Vegan means absolutely no animal products, including no honey (from the bee hive), and no leather goods.
Obviously, placenta is an animal product, since they consider humans just a nasty animal.
Auto correct. I did not catch it. Sorry bout that. The Latin Mass affects your brain, but in a differentoften times pleasantmanner.
Having actually read beyond the headline (admittedly, only first few paragraphs) it seems the lady ate PILLS containing her placenta.
Which isn’t as gross as taking knife & fork to an intact placenta. She says the pills are “working” apparently to cure whatever ails her.
I stopped reading there. Don’t wanna know.
About 15 years ago, breast milk ice cream was all the rage with celebs.
The child made the placenta, not the woman. Ignorance is bliss I suppose. After implanting of the morulla, the growing new life divides tasks for cell production, into the building of the placental cells and a spot of cells inside the placental cells where the body for life int he air world will be growing. Liberals thrive on our ignorance.
Having the thread about a woman who ate two steaks and this one about eating a placenta has certainly added an air to this thread
That said, I had friends who were livng in a tree house who gave birth and ate the placenta.
Gave a whole new outlook on that old saying, they were so poor they lived on love for nine months and then ate the baby.
I am not ignorant. Many animals do things that are completely disgusting; the claim that because animals do it means that humans should do it as well does not hold water. Many birds regurgitate food to feed their young. Koalas feed feces to their young. Cats lick their kittens' anus and genitals to get them to pass waste, which the mother cats eat. Etc. Eating placentas ranks right up there with the rest of disgusting animal behaviors that do not need to be emulated by humans.
There was a tribe in New Guinea that practiced eating its deceased members. According to Wikipedia, there is speculation that the original kuru arose when a member of the tribe developed sporadic Creutzfeldt-Jacob (meaning he was not exposed to an infectious source, but that the disease arose spontaneously). This is plausible, but there is no evidence to support the hypothesis. The disease especially affected women and children, who were more likely to eat the brains. In any case, the outbreak persisted for several years in the tribe, until after they abandoned the practice of eating their deceased. Once they discontinued cannibalism, the number of cases dropped steadily over the next few years. The last known case died in the 1970s.
In the US right now, a prion-caused wasting disease is affecting cervids (elk and deer). There is not evidence that the disease is contagious to humans, but the wildlife authorities do not recommend eating infected animals. I would have every carcass tested, if I was a hunter.
Most interesting. Thank you!
You’re welcome!
FRiend, you are guilty of "joke explaining", in this instance.
It's an instinct in many kinds of mammal moms, thought to be a protection for the helpless newborns so that predators won't smell the blood. Most mammal newborns have a pleasant odor (once bathed) that helps fool predators (and also helps create bonding with its relatives); but the placenta apparently smells tasty to wolves, mountain lions, etc.
So it's rather affected as well as disgusting for human moms in comparatively secure circumstances to do this.
So bingo!
It might have been on a very old Oprah show, some loony vegetarian woman was in emotional distress because she had a habit of eating her scabs, until she realized they were a form of meat.
Wow. Good advice; you should take it.
Wow, didn’t know they both came off the rails.
I suspect overnight fame can unhinge a lot of people that way.
