NIKK......this seems very opinionated but I felt if we could see a side of one of the groups in Israel we might better understand.
Opinion Ultra-Orthodox Parties and Netanayhu: An Unholy Deal That Just Came Apart
Israel's opposition understood that targeting Netanyahu's rock-solid alliance with Haredim was the only way to shake secular voters from their apathy. But it's not the ultra-Orthodox who want theocracy, it's the religious Zionists.
Nothing could have better served Avigdor Lieberman, who had used the excuse of the yeshiva-students conscription law to refuse to join Netanyahus coalition. And it will serve Kahol Lavan as well when they join the bandwagon of a secular national-unity coalition. The Haredim were caught in the crossfire between Netanyahu, trying to cling on to power and evade justice, and the opposition parties, which were quick to realize that targeting Netanyahus rock-solid alliance with the ultra-Orthodox politicians was perhaps the only way to shake secular voters from their apathy and motivate them to show Netanyahu the door. Now Netanyahu is finally on his way out, and with him, his Haredi partners are on their way to the opposition benches.
As the results came in on Tuesday night, the Haredi politicians rejoiced, at least outwardly. They had kept all their seats and even added on. Shas leader Arye Dery, whose party had won a ninth seat, said that for years they erased us, they said Shas was finished. But he knows full well that nine seats wont do very much good in opposition. Without the interior and religious affairs ministries under control of his party apparatus, without an open door to the Prime Ministers Office, Dery will be left unemployed on the back benches, waiting for an indictment on tax evasion.
The Haredi community went out on Tuesday as one, ordered by their rabbis to vote as they always are. This time they may have even eked out a higher turnout than usual. United Torah Judaism dragged the sagely Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky around the country for election rallies, which cant have been easy for him at 91. They were imitating the Shas tours of the late Rabbi Ovadia Yosef before elections. Shas itself used Rabbi Ovadias image heavily in its campaign, and with nostalgic videos of Sephardi slichot prayers, won a few more votes of traditional Mizrahim who usually prefer Likud.
But an extra seat or two wont extricate the Haredi politicians from the corner into which theyve painted themselves by their pact with Netanyahu and Smotrich. Neither will the protestations that they never wanted a theocracy, just the status quo.
After 72 years, theres an urgent need for a reassessment of the state-religion relationship in Israel. Not just to provide elemental things like civil marriage and public transport on Shabbat, but also to liberate young Haredi men from the yeshiva-army trap and allow them to join the workforce, which is what most of them want. The Haredi politicians and rabbis have sinned, chiefly against their own community, by entering the deal Netanyahu offered them, conserving a fossilized status quo in return for their unwavering political loyalty.
It wasnt just the ultra-Orthodox who won more seats in this election. The Arabs did as well. In the new Knesset, Shas, UTJ and the Joint List now hold a total of 30 seats, a quarter of the Knesset. Two large, impoverished, excluded communities in Israel that are not going to be part of the government in the next few years. Its due to Jewish racism against Arabs and secular hatred of Haredim, but not only. The Arab and ultra-Orthodox politicians also shoulder a portion of the blame for leading their communities into isolation. And at a time when young people in these two communities are yearning more than ever to integrate in to Israeli society.
Joint List leader Ayman Odeh at least tried to give a voice to the frustrated young Arab citizens of Israel in his interview with Yedioth Ahronoth last month where he listed the conditions under which he would join a coalition under Benny Gantz. But he was immediately slapped down by most of his party colleagues and retracted. At least he tried.
The ultra-Orthodox leadership of course wants to be in the coalition, every coalition. But the nonagenarian rabbis have no idea what a young Haredi man or woman is facing in modern Israel, and the Haredi political leaders who have been running their parties for a generation have put all their faith in Netanyahu and the status quo. They deserve to be banished to the opposition. Their voters dont.

NIKK...here’s another view of the situation. I’m trying to grasp the differences but quite honestly not being Jewish its possibly not possible for me.

NIKK...not the entire article.
According to several Hebrew-language outlets, Likud offered Peretz on Thursday to be the next finance minister, a tantalizing prospect for the former labor organizer and champion of the welfare state. It also offered his small faction two additional as-yet unnamed ministries, an increase in the minimum wage (long a Peretz priority), free college educations for soldiers upon their release from the military, and a universal mandatory pension law.
The offer is calculated to be so generous and so expensive that it would grant Peretz a ladder to climb down from his earlier vow not to serve in a Netanyahu government. He could now explain that to cling to his refusal would exact too high a cost from Israels working poor.
For now, according to Thursday night news reports, Peretz says hes turned down the offer.
Likud negotiators told Channel 13 on Thursday theyre not ruling out any party, not even Meretz, whose leader Nitzan Horowitz heads the progressive Democratic Camp alliance.
Gantz on Thursday met with Horowitz, and the former generals aides told reporters he is interested in meeting with Joint List leader Ayman Odeh to ask the alliance of Arab-majority factions to recommend him to the president.
According to Kan Thursday evening, Odeh is demanding specific policy promises as a precondition for his recommendation to the president.
A Blue and White response to the Kan report said Gantz believed he could obtain the presidents appointment as PM-designate without Joint Lists recommendation.
Earlier on Thursday, Netanyahu made an open call for Blue and White to join him in a unity government, likely one with a rotational prime minister.
Gantz, who has vowed to not join a coalition headed by Netanyahu, dismissed the offer as spin and said he would only support a government headed by him, appearing to stiffen his demands.
Even as right-wing politicians like New Rights Ayelet Shaked and National Unions Bezalel Smotrich have urged Gantz to drop his refusal to sit with Netanyahu, Likud lawmakers understand that if Gantz sticks to his guns, theyll have to choose between ousting their longtime premier or taking the country to a third election.
Netanyahu, looking to stave off any party mutiny, decided on Thursday to schedule meetings with several top Likud power-brokers, including Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, former interior minister Gideon Saar and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, in a bid to shore up his own position.
He knows he faces a bitter faction, which blames him for a lackluster campaign, and for shrinking the partys 35-seat showing to just 31.
To mollify complaints that four lawmakers lost their seats because of the ill-advised second election, Netanyahu promised Likuds lawmakers at a party meeting on Thursday that he would pass a law allowing ministers to vacate their Knesset seats, freeing up spots for the next few people in the line on the partys slate.

People are missing the big picture about whistle-blower-gate.
This just validates that ICA is STILL spying on our @POTUS! This is no different than muh Russia. Spygate never ended! They insist on spying on him to catch him. Listening in on Trumps phone calls is bullshit!
This is not how our government was run. I don't remember seeing the "Whistle-blower" part of the constitution. A phone call is not an impeachable offense.
Obama to Medvedev was way worse and nothing happened. This is the soft coup continued, don't let them say different!
Phil Mudd nails it and CNN is regretting they put him on.

"What is to keep vehicles from the Mexican side from crossing into the USA at that point?" There was a story in 2014 where a Sgt. Tamaroosi accidentally crossed over at Tijuana. Evidently if you are in the left lane on this freeway it goes off to the left (no sign until you are right on it) and you have interned Mexico. Once on it there is no turning back. Unfortunately Tamaroosi had guns in his vehicle. He spent 3-4 yrs. in the Mexican prison. His mother pleaded with President Trump and I think he finally got him out.
