AMERICAN Airlines passengers were left stunned after noticing a miniature HORSE had joined their flight.

Evan Nowak said he noticed the animal, which had been brought onboard by a fellow traveller, while flying on an a service from Chicago to Omaha.

He posted the footage to Twitter, which showed the horse calmly sitting near the front of the plane in an aisle seat.

He added: "At this time we would like to begin boarding with any active duty military, families travelling with children under the age of 3, and horses..."

Another passenger, Amberley Babbage, also spotted the animal at check in, tweeting: "There was a small horse in line at the airport today and I’m so curious about it. #ORD"

The horse was later revealed to be called Flirty - and even has its own Twitter and Instagram account.

"If someone needs to take a horse with them to fly, they should charter their own flight."

I was thinking someone needs to call the white coats... Or at least a psychiatrist..

Everyone needs to get a pet anaconda and a shrink’s note that says they are your emotional support animal.

A few flights with those and this will end quickly!

Make sure your chairbacks and tray tables are in their full upright and foaled position.

“When it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person’s disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task.”

https://www.ada.gov/service_animals_2010.htm

“The laws under ADA only extends to animals that are individually trained to perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability. Due to this distinction, your emotional support animal is not protected by the same laws that govern service animals.”

https://www.servicedogcertifications.org/emotional-support-animal-laws/

Seems to me the laws are clear that support animals are not the same as service animals and support animals are not legally covered.

The problem is under the law businesses cannot ask to see documentation or have the animal demonstrate any claimed assistance. Of course people lie so most businesses are just trying to get along and stay out of trouble.

Funny we are required to show valid vehicle registration, drivers license to operate a motor vehicle and many other things in daily life- yet no requirement for approved agency license for specific animals that are covered under the law.

We are now at the point where people can and do pack critters around and it is beginning to look like third world transportation.

Nor should they. What about people, like myself, who have severe allergies to animals? They cause severe asthma attacks.

Sometimes I have to wonder whether they have a need for a support animal or a need for attention.

“This is just TOO FAR GONE. I cannot believe the airline would allow this.”

Explain that to a lawyer that makes his living filing ADA lawsuits. It should be good for at least a chuckle.

Your sentiment is about 25 years too late. The only way to change this is to change the ADA law, and that just is not going to happen. People just don’t care until it effects them personally.

People have no idea how tough it is to train a service dog. They limit training to only the smartest breeds and 9 out of 10 don't even make it.

My brother had a golden retriever who flunked out of service dog training. Wonderful pooch, very smart, but loved people too much. He just couldn't resist being friendly back when people patted him or threw him a ball.

Brother told me that the school told him that it was the #1 for dogs flunking out.
