Do you know what's in CBD products? I-Team tests them out in lab

CBD is now legal with no prescription necessary, but it's also largely unregulated, which means consumers don't always know what they're getting.

CBD is derived from cannabis or hemp, but it contains very little or no THC so it does not make you high. Some people said it helps with a wide range of ailments from pain to anxiety.

"Everyone is just trying to jump on the bandwagon. You have grocery stores, gas stations, liquor stores and corner stores that are selling this stuff," said Nicholas Patrick, owner of Embrace CBD Wellness Center in Glen Burnie.

Many retailers are selling CBD products, but no one is regulating them.

"That's absolutely true. At this current moment, there are no (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) guidelines, no FDA restrictions. They have a very loose enforcement policy. So, when you're buying CBD, you could be taking a potentially harmful product," Patrick said.

Sorry about your pain. I was crippled with such injuries for a long time.

Dang, if I'd have known you were gonna flush them, I'd have given you my mailing address. LOL I had my gall bladder out in '10, I believe it was. It was abscessing and the pain was exquisite. There were only two surgeons at the hospital here who specialized in that sort of surgery, and one was on vacation, so the other was handling two caseloads at once for the duration. So, since there was a week's delay for an available O.R. slot, my doctor called in for a bottle of hydrocodone 7.5 to manage the pain in the interim. I went straight to the pharmacy, and they gave me a bottle the size of a beer can. A hundred, I think, one every four hours. Well, surgery came and went, and the surgeon turned around and called in a bottle of Dilaudid for me, post-op. My wife picked it up, and there was probably a two week supply. Now I've got both pain meds on the nightstand. I was alternating between one and the other, and I'm washing them down with wine (for the vitamins, you see *snicker*). Due to the nature of my job, my doctor put me out on medical leave for another six weeks, long enough that I got approved for paid short term disability with my employer. But I had so many Class III CDS pills on me that I was as high as a kite for a solid month. LOL!

“No offense, but those figures are statistically insignificant. My BP varies ALOT per many doc visits from a normal range in the 1teens/70s up to 130/80s.”

Having your BP checked by your doctor will vary a lot.

Using a BP monitor daily and doing a statically analysis makes your results more meaningful. The standard deviation and coefficient of variance is better after I started to drink CBD coffee.

BTW, how are your German shepherds doing? I had to put down my female last week at age 16 because of extreme arthritis and failing kidney. Still have two males, ages 3 and 4.

I smoked my first doobie in, I think it was 1971, the night Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, starring Gene Wilder, opened in theaters.
It was an old art deco theatre with heavy red curtains & a huge pipe organ, played during intermission by a gal in an evening gown, a hat & long white gloves.

Greatest movie ever. :^)

Most of the CBD on the market is Hemp based (with so so results). That stuff is about 1/8 th to 1/20th the potency of Cannabis based CBD which usually contains some THC.

Google Scholar is a research tool that takes you to actual scientific papers that provide peer reviewed research results from actual lab testing.
Much good research on fighting cancer with CBD too.

All of the lab tests you can read are blind / blind studies so there is No placebo effect.

If you want to know about something then read good sources. I’ve read about 140 research papers on CBD and have now made my own cannibus version for 3 years.

I have 2 crushed vertebrae, 2 cracked ones, 7 collapsed discs and a number of bone spurs from injuries. I haven’t taken a pain pill in years, have little to no pain and my last MRIs showed I no longer need surgery or it’s at least a borderline call.

The oil I make works for every person who has tried it. 2 people with Shingles that estimate their pain scale has gone from a 10 to below 5.
2 friends with epilepsy that have both stopped all seizures and 1 hasn’t had a tremor now in 4 months and has been able to quit using it.

My wife used to get migraines that made her vomit. She now doesn’t have to take any other medications and over this past year the number of migraines has been reduced as well as their pain levels.

Several members of my family have suffered arthritis with severe swelling.
The CBD oil not only reduces pain but reduces inflammation. The longer you use it the less you need.

I rarely use it any more for my neck and lower back. Now, where my surgeon had been hounding me saying surgery was my only relief I’m pain free and back to working hard physically every day.

I agree most of the CBD out there is junk.

You think it doesn’t work ... you’re not taking the right product.

I bought the 2 pack organic made in the USA 3,000 milligram by Mix Rx. It cost something like 28.00.

My QFC grocery is now selling CBD but theirs cost more and I am happy with this one.

In a pharmaceutical state it is highly regulated. It is after all a medical prescription. It can take a couple of years for a State that has adopted medical mj to establish the protocols for this. The stuff is tested for content in laboratory settings and content’s and quantities are listed.

What is in CBD?

Cannabidiol is a phytocannabinoid discovered in 1940. It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract.

Now you know what CBD is. It’s not what’s in it - it is what it is. An oil extract of a cannabis plant.

Oh and I forgot - Why does it need FDA approval? Can’t the State do that if it is only available in that State? Why need Federal approval??

I know. It’s just that I think back a few decades, and the idea that cannabis oil would be sold over the counter with virtually no regulation, while recreational marijuana (which can be a smokeable product) can be sold to those over 21 in a number of states — this was a very fringe idea that not many took seriously. But here we are. Tobacco is supper bad, and cannabis is pretty common.

I have a sister-in-law who is now in her early 60’s. Since she was a teenager she has had “essential tremors” and have tried every drug that a Dr. would prescribe, but to no avail. Two months ago she tried CDB and the tremors stopped within 24 hours.

I would not want to try to take this “snake oil placebo” from her, it would be an epic battle for anyone to try.

Go back and read my posts. You completely missed my point.

Or maybe your post was meant for another — I know what CBD and medical MJ is, no need to define it for me.

A guy I know let me try some of his CBD oil (oral and cream). It seemed to help the pain in my arthritic hands a bit, but it wasn’t much effect if any. I declined to buy some of it.

Warning - if you take this stuff regularly you can pop a positive drug screen at work.

That’s a lie, there is no THC content in CBD.

Tests them out? As if they're comprehensively testing every CBD product on the market? Puh-leez! Whatever came of truth in headlines?
