Florida Braces for ‘Absolute Monster’ Hurricane Dorian

MIAMI (AP) — Unsure where Hurricane Dorian is going to land over Labor Day weekend, many Florida residents faced a sense of helplessness as they prepared for what President Donald Trump said could be an “absolute monster” of a storm. “All indications are it’s going to hit very hard and it’s going to be very big,” Trump said in a video he tweeted Thursday evening, comparing Dorian to Hurricane Andrew, which devastated South Florida in 1992.The National Hurricane Center said the Category 2 storm is expected to strengthen into a potentially catastrophic Category 4 with winds of 130 mph and slam into the U.S. on Monday somewhere between the Florida Keys and southern Georgia — a 500-mile stretch that reflected the high degree of uncertainty this far out.

With all the hype, I am going to assume this is going to end up being a non-event...

I beg to differ. Millions without electricity is far from a non-event.

Just talked to my daughter west of Daytona. Told her to hit the road today

Two years ago that area was without power for 2 weeks

She’s packed, filled up and ready to bug out
Not worth the risk

I look on drudge report, and I see a picture of what appears to be Hurricane Camille about to hit Florida.

My reaction to seeing that pic was HOLY SH!T!

Oh, it’s not even the storm, it’s just blatant frickin’ fake news hurricane porn. Thanks, Matt. That’s great ;/

Thank you

A week or two without power and flooded roads in that climate is no picnic

Leftists are hoping for a massive storm with extreme damage and enough minority deaths to warrant them accusing President Trump of slow reactions, because, you know, racism...

That would be nice. But you have to prepare for the worst. I lived through a few scares at Homestead in the early ‘80s. Nothing-burgers. Having seen the post-Andrew photos of the building I lived in, the pallet of drinking water they put in the front lobby of the dorm seemed like the very minimum of preparation, though.

The liberals will say Trump caused an uproar and sent people running in all directions resulting in hundreds of thousands of causalities in car wrecks, bicycle accidents, foot traffic accidents, plane crashes, Iran attacking shipping in the gulf, guy getting shot cheating in card game, woman catches husband cheating on her and shoots him. EVERYTHING is Trump’s fault. Even this hurricane attacking is his fault. He drove Nature to attack America as punishment for global warming. Run for your lives!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could become a Cat 4. And it could hit anywhere from The Keys to Georgia. Can we get any more uncertain?!

Ignore the press. Check the state of the system if interested. Currently crossing from a 2 to a 3. Path puts it in FL. Two back to back high pressure fronts approaching from NW which will weaken it as it steers it.

It’s going to be a slow moving major rain maker. I’m in SW Florida and there are gas lines and no water even though it’s going to land on the east coast. People here remember in Irma and Charley and are taking precautions. I lived at the Jersey shore when Sandy hit so I tend not to panic too much. People just need to be prepared and evacuate if necesary.

Stores have already run out of merchandise and they probably won't be back in stock for some time after the storm. Have you forgotten the Scout motto?

The link below is the Euro model. Advance the map manually and you can see the pressure ridge contour the storm has to follow is leading it straight into the lower east coast of the state.
