Just talked to my daughter west of Daytona. Told her to hit the road today
Two years ago that area was without power for 2 weeks
She’s packed, filled up and ready to bug out
Not worth the risk
The problem is where do you go? North? still in the cone. South? West? same thing.
Thousands of "escapees" two years ago were stuck on the interstate in horrific gridlock unable to get out of the state for dozens of hours with nowhere to run or hide. We also had wise relatives of ours telling us (from out of state) to leave. We stayed put. We were fine with periods of no power. So you light a candle.
No power can be dealt with. But being stranded on the intestate in your car in gridlock for hundreds of miles away from your home for dozens of hours, in some cases as much as two days, is far worse and far more dangerous. Especially for a lone female.
4Runner --a Tampa homeowner for 36 hurricane seasons consecutive. Go ahead and flame. You have my permission.
Best of luck to your daughter. You gave her good advice.
