The guy is talented in his field. Thats fine. I’ve appreciated his work over the years. If he were commenting on the making of films, I would give his opinion some weight.
However, outside his field of expertise his opinion is one of 350 million in this country.
I give it that much weight.

My comment is in response to the claim that “he has never done anything of significance in his entire existence”.
His personal opinions on political matters are, IMO, so much sewage.
He was credited with the success of Spinal Tap but the other films that team of actors/writers made reveals that to be false.

To this day, many conservatives consider “Archie Bunker” a hero of the right.
Yet, his creator, uber-liberal Norman Lear, intended the narrow-minded Archie to be an example of atrocious conservative thinking.
Lear intended to show the world that conservatives were idiots.

No doubt the Hollywood crowd were horrified when Archie Bunker turned into a folk hero while the characters of Meathead and his wife (Sally Struthers) were turned into caricatures of insufferable free-loading, ungrateful adult children - too incompetent to even get their own apartment.
One thing is clear, no acting was required on Rob Reiner's part for the "Meathead" role. All he had to do was just be himself.
Then we could have been treated to scripts like these:
Meathead: "Arch, Nixon went too far!He has to be removed."
Archie: "Gee, Mike. I never thought it could come to that but I guess you're right"
Meathead: "Don't worry, Arch. I'll help you get through this."
Archie: "Thanks Mike, I don't know what I'd do without you."

Reiner is a good actor and he has directed a number of good movies. Why can’t he stick with what he is good at, and stay out of areas like politics in which he is all emotion and has little/no critical thinking ability?
