Today’s Cryptogram

HTIDGX, FAO IGVH. CJDX ICKUNGD CJFC YKA SFIC. ---HTGGTFU IJFQDIBDFYD

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: brain; cryptogram; puzzle; todayscryptogram
If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

< 3 min.

Kinda tricky; there are only so many 3-letter words which generally follow a comma.

Getting that 2nd word reveals the author's name. Filling that in makes the rest fall into place. Take your time and don't be in a hurry!

A little over a minute today - got lucky and got the author's first name pretty quickly and the rest just fell into place.

BTW nikos - thanks for doing these - I look forward to them every day !

Guess the author. Then proceed quickly and thoughtlessly.

It only took a couple minutes, but I should have recognized it instantly, along with the NAME, for pete’s sake. I love that moment in the 1968 film... I hope that wasn’t too spoilery!

Funny graphic. Didn’t help me solve it but perfect for the quote.

Pretty much my experience and time. The ABCA opened up enough letters to help me stumble over the authors name, and it went fairly quickly after that.

Where’s my damm coffee?

One could say this Cryptogram author was a man of few words, were he not who he is. . . One of the shorter puzzles you’ve posted.

I recognized the author, which locks in 70% of the rest, so it took 1 minute.
