FULL TITLE: Wendy's manager is under fire for blaming his employees' poor service on having a 'talentless pool of ex-junkies' to hire from in the small Massachusetts town
A Wendy's manager has sparked outrage for insulting his employees and bashing his Massachusetts town as a drug-riddled, talentless 'pool of ex-junkies'.
Wendy's customer Matthew Rose said that he had been shocked by the bad service he received when he visited the restaurant on Cranberry Highway in Wareham on August 3. He says he returned a few days later, to a similarly terrible experience.
He decided to send a complaint to Wendy's corporate office. But the reply he was stunned with the response he received on Monday morning from district manager Keith Edward Helger.
Helger blamed the restaurant's shoddy service the poor caliber of applicants in the town.
The e-mail Rose received said: 'I apologize for your experiences at this location. Not an excuse but the town of Wareham has little to no talent pool to hire from. This is an ongoing issue in that area. We are constantly interviewing and hiring any and all qualified candidates. Unfortunately those candidates are hard to come by as most are recovering addicts and we cannot hire them.'
'We will continue to do our best to fix the issues in this location and improve the overall Wendy's experience. I appreciate your feedback.'

Yep!..............KFC closes the lobby in the middle of the afternoon!........
Lol
That part of Mass if far from entitled. Sure Martha’s Vineyard and Brookline are rich and entitled.
If that part of MA were put into the worst county in WV, the average income would go down.
I used to work for a company that would set up call centers in “tier 3” communities. That is, places where the cost of living - and wages - are low.
They found that if they did drug testing they would have a hard time hiring anyone. And the people they did hire were so commonly unreliable they would get fired.
In fact it was so bad in some places that they would burn through the entire employable population and have to close down shop and move to another community.
Welcome to 21st century small town America.
at least those junkies speak English. I have to spell out “combo number one” to these pukes..
They could always hire illegals.
I agree with the manager.
No way in the world would I want to be a fast food manager and deal with pimple faces who float in and out of jobs if they feel like it.
And this poor schlub has to deal with junkies too?
BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!
We need people to speak English
Yes. Perhaps he was too frank.
I know what tier 1, tier 2 customer service is. I have a family member who goes to the Philippines to set up call centers, which takes around 2-3 months. The Filipinos are well-educated in English as English is the 2nd langauge after Tagalog (an ongoing process after years of US occupation during the early 1900’).
The problem are the stupid Americans on the other end of the line...
The prime reason I never buy fast food .... just look at the staff and think about what they are doing to your food in back out of sight!!!!!!!
I’m skeptical. Usually when most of the employees aren’t very good, it’s because of poor management.
Had the same experience in SPOKANE WA recently
Walked in to shithole...not Wendy’s, another national chain where I thought “well we can get a grilled chicken sandwich and use the bathroom before resuming our drive to the Seattle area.)
Walked in to a horrible experience beginning with the floor being super sti my from being g mopped with dirty water, bathroom was clogged with a drug addict, and the 29 y.o. white guy taking my order looked at me and silently gave me the “what’s up head nod” as a way of asking me for my order.
Are you in Northern Rio Rancho, NM? There's a BK there that I remember was atrociously slow.
Good old Wareham. The town that claims to be on Cape Code but isn’t.
raise your pay above minimum wage?
If Arlo Guthrie had used that in a song they would have loved it.
