New York (CNN Business)Burger King will start selling its meatless Whopper across the United States on August 8, the biggest rollout for Impossible's plant-based product. The burger chain has been selling the Impossible Whopper, featuring a meatless patty made by Impossible Foods, in a few markets in the United States since April. It first tested the product in St. Louis before announcing in May that it would offer the Impossible Whopper nationally this year. Interest in plant-based protein has surged as many people try to reduce their meat intake for health or environmental reasons. US retail sales of plant-based foods have grown 11% in the past year, according to a July report from trade group Plant Based Foods Association and the Good Food Institute, a nonprofit that supports plant-based businesses. The Impossible Whopper has been performing well, Chris Finazzo, Burger King's president for the Americas, told CNN Business.
"It's driven new guests into the restaurant," he said, noting that most of those customers either haven't been to a Burger King in a long time or haven't visited one at all. "We're really excited to be able to attract that customer."

Soylent Green.... It’s PEOPLE! It’s PEOPLE! LOL
My husband, (just had 46th anniversary), makes the BEST burgers, flat iron, BBQ with homemade marinade and BBQ sauce, chicken grilled with lemon and butter and other ingredients, Rendang, Sprouts with lemon, onion, garlic, rosemary.... And he recently came up with a soup that was like hot and sour but with coconut milk too. YUM! I think he might be a KEEPER!
There is a Boca Burger made of mostly black beans that is really good....
GREAT QUESTION!
Burger King’s phony burger.
For me its more about what I put on the burger than the meat itself. I like lots of pickles, mustard, mayo, big slice of onion, thick cheese, ketchup on the burger and ketchup for dipping on the plate and some tabasco. I am very hungry right now.
It is called an Impossible Burger, because this Deplorable Family will not try it.
Culver’s is great...This Deplorable Family loves Culver’s...
Wendy’s needs to bring back “Where’s the beef?”
Panera Bread is great...5 Guys is another great burger joint.
Try Five Guys burgers if you get a chance.
They are easily on par , or better, than In-n-Out.
At least there is MEAT in the Soylent Greenburger.
I would not underestimate the potential of these new products.
It sounds like they are very good.
As someone with a farm background, I think there is the potential they could be disruptive to our current animal based production system.
It seems they have come out of nowhere and are making serious inroads into replacing meat.
I saw these in the case by the meat when I was visiting my mom this summer in NC. If I hadn’t seen the label I would have thought they were beef patties. Visually a perfect match. And the are expensive!
I want to try them once ; )
They
Hadn’t thought of that. Hmmmm.....
As a traveling salesman, I used to frequent BK and was either 3rd or 4th in drive up or the same inside.
Then they changed their fries which were the absolute best to batter covered...YUCK!
I would then buy their burgers and get a bag of Lays chips from a convenience store.
Both BK and Lays have now abandoned their base in trying to cater to homosexuals and vegans. Combined these make up about 4% of their customers. Nobody buys burgers or chips with health food in mind.
BK changed to frying with what tastes like recycled battery acid and Lays went on a diverse flavor quest and abandoned their worlds best chips and cooking with vegetable oil. BLECH!
Both brands abandoned what made them and went health conscious that have ruined their brand to their base customers in order to attract a measly 4% of new customers.
I now drive by BK and see no cars in the drive thru and 2or 3 cars in their lot.
And as someone who used to eat 3 to 4 family size bags per week and could tell when they switched potatoes from Maine to Florida and vice versa,I also no longer buy Lays as the taste is more like cardboard.
Congratulations to both brands on abandoning your base Customers.
Well, different folks, different strokes.
