I ordered the same meal at a McDonald's in Moscow and New York City, and the Russian (shortened)

The USSR got its first McDonald's in January 1990. On a recent trip to Russia, I visited the fast-food restaurant in Moscow. I found that the Moscow location of the fast-food restaurant was a step up from its counterparts in the US. The ordering process was streamlined, the food tasted fresher and more flavorful, and the space was cleaner.

On January 31, 1990, more than 30,000 people waited in line in the cold for hours to eat at the very first McDonald's in the USSR.

Now, the American fast-food chain has at least 650 locations throughout the country. McDonald's is thriving in Russia, with the number of restaurants growing 6% last year, as compared to the global average of 1.5%, The Wall Street Journal reported. And most of the restaurants in Russia cook with ingredients that are sourced from local Russian suppliers, according to the Journal.

On a recent trip to Russia, I ate at the first McDonald's to open in Moscow, and it was a step up from the locations I've visited in the US.

Here's what it was like.

Let’s hope it’s the final end of the deadly romance with socialism.

“Because despite all the craziness current cultural predicament of political correctness — there is still substance to our culture: our way of life, our person-to-person interaction with each other...things like: customer service, personal responsibility, and rule of law...”

Of those, the rule of law and maybe personal responsibility is what they come for, IMO. But the REAL REASON they come here is because if their kids become doctors, they can easily get rich, and if they run of the mill professionals (accountants, engineers, etc.), they can at least be upper middle in most of the, and even higher in some of the country (like the south). Back home, the only way to do that is to start a business (huge gamble) and have to be paying off politicians along the way. And for the immigrants themselves (as opposed to their kids), if they instead live cheap and manual labor, they can still send buku bucks back to their families at home.

We have a McDonalds in our town in Spain. It’s been there since before we moved here in 2016. Passed by it thousands of times but never been in it. We also travel a lot to different parts of Europe and see American fast food restaurants in most cities we visit. Never been on any of them.

The Russians my be poorer, but their standards are impeccable.
Americans have too low of standards too often.

I mean that with respect.

This is good news. I bought MCD at $58. It’s been pretty much straight up since.

According to your referenced article, 2o18 had the lowest number of migrants.

Also:

“Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Tajikistan have been the largest sources of migrants to Russia this year, the study said.”

Vlad kept out the Muslim hordes from South of the Bosporus, which is what I was referring to.In doing so Vlad thwarted Obama’s planned demographic invasion of Russia via his Arab Spring, organized by Facebook and Google BTW.instead the Muslim hordes found their way to Western Europe and America, where they fester to this day.

Putin had strategic good reason to size The Crimea. That was caused by Obama and his arab freedom initiatives while apologizing for our history to the Muslim world. What a laugh!

Obama was and still is a horrid psychopomp.

I ate breakfast at a McDonald’s in the Czech Republic a few years ago. Immaculately clean inside and out. My local McDonald’s except for familiar logos, and branding is like a different experience. (Not in a good way, either).

You get yourself 1 pound of hamburger meat, and 1 pound of Jimmy Dean sausage. Mix together, make some big thick patties, and cook on the grill

You'll never eat another Big McCrap burger again.

The closest was ‘beef a la russ’ burger. Rye bread and extra fried bacon. But that was like 10 years ago.

My experience even in places you wouldn't expect, is that when I leave the United States, the food quality is by far superior. Milk tastes better as does all dairy products, and food is generally less unadulterated. My final verdict is that I do not have the stomach problems travelling abroad that I do at home eating a variety of different foods.

I've tried various forms of milk other than "fresh from the cow". For some reason, it's far better in most forms in South America, Europe and the Asian continent.

You could have bought it in the early 2000’s for $15, but yours was still a good buy.
