Frank Zapata demonstrated his device above the crowds at the Champs-Elysee, soaring high into the air on what looks like a futuristic hoverboard. A former jet-skiing champion, Zapata operated the device by leaning forward as if on a Segway.
As part of his display, he flew to and fro before stopping gracefully in midair while holding an unloaded rifle...
Zapata claims that the Flyboard can reach a top speed of 190 km/h, with a predicted top speed of 200 km/h. According to his website, it can fly up to 150 metres for ten minutes, carrying a maximum load of 100 kg. The predicted limits are even higher the Flyboard has a max altitude of 3,000 metres, a maximum flight time of 30 minutes and a maximum carrying capacity of 200 kg.

Wait...what? Never mind.
Cool, but it’s potential applications seem limited. I would like one to clean the windows and gutters, and to trim tree branches.
Sweet. Kinda like skeet but with frogs as the targets.
This could become an Olympic Sport.
Now THAT is the way I’d like to commute! 6 minutes each way, plus I could avoid dodgem/revenue enhancement with the po-po.
Pizza Hut will be able to deliver super fast!
I have a suggestion for anyone here who really, really wants to kill or severely maim himself: just get on a motorcycle that doesn’t have a fairing, get it up tp 90 mph, and try, just try to stand up on the foot pegs without being torn off by the wind. You couldn’t do it. The force of the wind increases exponentially as your speed increases. That force will keep anybody from flying this invention at any speed much over 35 or 40 mph.
Skeet!
The new method for illegals to invade?
This guy can go 200km/h. That's probably 300 or 400 mph converted.
That thing has got to be loud, so no stealthy assault.
I see shotguns making a comeback into the infantry arsenal.
BiBob.... 200km/hr = 120miles/hr (still darn fast for a human)
A kilometer is over half a mile, so it would convert to something closer to 100 mph.
I don’t deny that his invention can achieve that speed. I do deny that, standing on it, he or anybody else, could either stay on it or control it. Long ago, in my younger years I had a BMW R74/5 motorcycle. If, without a fairing, I even got it up to 60 mph, it became very hard to control because of the terrific force of the wind. Same thing’s going to happen to him as he increases his speed. If you don’t believe me, just try standing outside in a hurricane and see what happens.
Lucky guy. Smart too.
