Damn stupid thing for her to do with police on the scene. Unfortunately, that’s not one of those mistakes you can learn from.

Garden-variety suicide-by-cop.
Suicide by cop.
Sure enough, this was happening. Its odd that seeing no traffic would automatically mean a bad thing is happening, but Ive seen stranger things on these highways.
The video DOESNT show the fatal shooting. His camera was not on. Like I tell my sons they have to be careful around cops -they would rather shoot than have to deal with them.
“Nobody should have to die just for pointing a fake gun at a po-leece.”

Only a total @$$hole would expect cops to assume guns pointed at them are fake rather than real. Sadly that expectation isn’t limited to delusional lefties and fanatical radical agitators - but is even found here on FR.
This is what’s known as the self correcting mistake, aka “she’ll never do that again”.

What’s really outrageous is the family wants the officer to suspended without pay. I reviewed the video and the officer was faced with a situation that he had to respond to immediately. There is no way for him to know that it was a replica pistol, as the federally mandated orange barrel plug was not on the pistol. What the hell was the family thinking when they possessed a replica that was easily mistaken for a real pistol? And now they’ll want millions for their own stupidity and the stupidity of their now dead family member.
I wish more cops would have non-lethal options so they wouldn’t have to kill a crazy person for pointing a screwdriver at them, but if it looks like a real gun they have no choice.
If one of my kids pulled a fake gun on an officer, as devastated as I would be, I would be ok with them shooting him dead.
Sounds like it may have been a suicide by cop.
And the young lady was clearly unstable and had mental issues as I mentioned several days ago...The video and witnesses paint a clear picture.
Suicide by cop. Sympathy for the cop, and her family. The lawyer showed some integrity there.
I appreciate that the family and the attorney are willing to admit that it may have been the girl’s own fault. Rare anymore.
I want to know why Daddy thought it was ok for his daughter to take off in a rental vehicle, one I am sure the contract stated was only to be driven by a licensed driver over the age of 25, when she did not have a driver’s license. “Oh she was just going out to practice in a vehicle they were sharing.” REALLY?????
No wonder the daughter was screwed up! The parents don’t seem to think that the rules apply to them. I would never allow my 17 year old child who only had a permit to drive alone in my car, to heck with one that didn’t even belong to me.
Sorry she was shot but play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Just glad the officer wasn’t injured by her or the vehicle.
