The body of MacKenzie Lueck, the University of Utah student who was killed sometime after she flew back to Salt Lake City on June 17, has been found.
“We have retrieved MacKenzie Lueck from Logan Canyon,” Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown announced at a news conference Friday.
Few details were given about how the body was found. Brown and Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said her remains were found sometime Wednesday.
“Despite their grief,” Brown said of the Lueck family, “we hope this will help them find some closure and justice for MacKenzie.”
Ayoola Ajayi, 31, was booked into jail on June 28, on suspicion of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, desecration of a body and obstruction of justice after a SWAT team arrested him that morning at a West Temple apartment complex. He is being held without the opportunity to post bail.
Police had previously said charred human tissue was found in Ajayi’s yard and was a DNA match for Lueck.
As of Friday morning, Ajayi had not been charged. Gill asked for and received an extension until Tuesday to file formal charges, and said Friday that charges should be filed early next week.

I don’t think we know the motivation of the girl. It could have been to help someone survive. She was deceived for sure. I am just disappointed with the negatives here. Frankly, I appreciate a hard line when it is necessary, as with the murderer. But, don’t do God’s job of judging this girl. Who hasn’t been stupid or deceived?
The money is real. Not all prostitutes are drug-addled streetwalkers giving out $40 BJs for crack rocks. A professional escort with a good clientele of white-collar professionals can earn $350k a year. Like escorts, these "sugar babies" aren't looking to sleep with dozens of different men. They're trying to build a small clientele of a few very wealthy men who are willing to spend a lot of money. It's a small window of opportunity. "Sugar daddies" don't want old hags. They want college girls.

Women shouldn’t be murdered for being stupid. Instead of exalting themselves and trashing the poor thing, I would love to see some Freepers demanding the death penalty for animals like this. We don’t have it. It is never used.

Yeah, lots of different info on this guy. Some sources said he was here on a visa (which he may have been at some point).
I don’t see it as either / or. If guilty - and he certainly seems to be - then I’d have no problem with him being tortured to death. But it is also important to note the woman’s behavior (if true, and it seems to be) was both dangerous and immoral. The Copybook Gods have struck again: “If you play with fire you get burned.”
