The body of MacKenzie Lueck, the University of Utah student who was killed sometime after she flew back to Salt Lake City on June 17, has been found.
We have retrieved MacKenzie Lueck from Logan Canyon, Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown announced at a news conference Friday.
Few details were given about how the body was found. Brown and Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill said her remains were found sometime Wednesday.
Despite their grief, Brown said of the Lueck family, we hope this will help them find some closure and justice for MacKenzie.
Ayoola Ajayi, 31, was booked into jail on June 28, on suspicion of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, desecration of a body and obstruction of justice after a SWAT team arrested him that morning at a West Temple apartment complex. He is being held without the opportunity to post bail.
Police had previously said charred human tissue was found in Ajayis yard and was a DNA match for Lueck.
As of Friday morning, Ajayi had not been charged. Gill asked for and received an extension until Tuesday to file formal charges, and said Friday that charges should be filed early next week.

I assumed he body had been burned.

Bits and pieces “burned flesh”. I assume that’s the “desecration of human remains” part.
Seems at least he cooked the meat first.
Good questions. We may never know what was going on with her.
I will stick my neck out here, and speculate that part of it is a lack of morals. For whatever reason, her moral compass so to speak, did not consider that this behavior is immoral.
That’s on the girl. No parent can stop a fool.
Survival of the fittest.
Just think. ..she could have reproduced. We
yes I agree totally....this is precisely the time to be dissing this young woman after her probable gruesome death because her mom and dad just need to hear what a stupid person their dtr was.....NOT!
She’s STILL somebody’s little girl. It doesn’t make it any easier just because she did something stupid to put herself in harm’s way. If anything, it will make it harder. My heart aches for her family.
yes...it would be better if they put on tight sweaters and work for minimum wage plus tips at Hooters.....and let all the decent, Christian men get their jollies at a discount..
I’m confused what you’re saying? Hooters is a restaurant where women and children go as well. Prostituting is still illegal. And meeting strangers online 3:00 in the morning is very dangerous working at hooters really isn’t unless you slip on beer.
Lots of remote country nearby. I suspect they needed to be told where to find her body.
It seems to be a thing at that university. Not the first one.
Just glad they found Her.

“. National Guard for a while”
Never entered.
My theory: He posed as someone else on the Internet, complete with a false photo. I surmise he kidnapped her as soon as she reached his car in the park at 3 am, his horrible crime having been premeditated, Her cell phone went off at that very time.
Its a heartbreak.
She probably wasnt that bright, not much of a chess player, didnt think it through that just having intercourse and getting cool clothes and money for it was a good idea for a poor college student.
Very sad. One can only hope that this is a lesson to other less smart girls. Im sorry for her family.
Import barbarians and get barbarian behavior......as if we don’t have enough of it domestically.
So just what African $hit hole country did this POS emigrate here from? Or is he Caribbean Crap?
I’m still not convinced he didn’t cook her and eat her.
“. National Guard for a while
Never entered.”
“Ajayi was briefly a member of the Utah Army National Guard in the past, but he was discharged, officials said.”
There’s a picture of him in what appears to be a National Guard uniform. Maybe the “officials” got their facts wrong.
I don’t think it is appropriate to diss the young woman’s risky behavior, either-her parents are still heartbroken at her horrible death-she was still their child whom they no doubt loved...
She was an adult-her parents had no control over where she went online or elsewhere-it should be obvious to any intelligent young person by now that you can wind up dead by going to hookup sites and meeting total strangers in dark, deserted places after midnight to have sex with for financial gain or otherwise-but apparently they didn’t pay attention the news about the Craig’s List killer and other more recent on-line predators-popular culture still promotes what is online prostitution to young women as a way to make quick cash for college, etc-at the very leasdt there should be a big caution sign on those sites-let the buyer beware...
any 3rd world countries which are not?
Sounds like one of those episodes of Criminal Minds. This wasn’t this guys first rodeos.
