I don’t see it as either / or. If guilty - and he certainly seems to be - then I’d have no problem with him being tortured to death. But it is also important to note the woman’s behavior (if true, and it seems to be) was both dangerous and immoral. The Copybook Gods have struck again: “If you play with fire you get burned.”

Exactly. The lesson to be learned is that there is evil in the world, so don’t put oneself in a vulnerable position.
