On 27 April, before he burst into a San Diego synagogue and opened fire, killing one worshipper and injuring three more, the gunman said goodbye to the community that radicalised him. Its been real dudes, he posted on the far-right politics board, /pol/, on the image-posting site 8chan. Ive only been lurking for a year and a half, yet what Ive learned here is priceless.
The story was familiar. Six weeks earlier, a 28-year-old had killed 50 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. Before starting his attack, he, too, had posted on 8chans /pol/ board. Its been a long ride, he had written. He signed off his post: Meme magic is real. The first response from an anonymous 8chan user urged him to get the high score.
From its effect on the world, 8chan could be ranked as one of the internets most dangerous sites. Some have even compared it to terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda or ISIS. The pattern is similar: men and it is always men find their way there, and get radicalised into an extreme ideology which drives some of them to violence.
But there is no fundamentalist preacher for the ideology of chan sites. Its mostly lonely people who find themselves in a febrile information ecosystem without precedent in human history. Chan sites like 8chan are something entirely new: organic communities of anonymous participants that have started to behave almost like a new consciousness, separate and more powerful and dangerous than the sum of its parts.

Yea, but did they really?
Don't believe everything the deep state/CIA feeds you.

Gee. Revel is really upset at this 8chan post.
Could it be that 8chan and Qanaon are directly inked together in some way?
inked = linked.
” goodbye to the community that radicalised him”
That must be some powerful juju possessed by those 8 chan posters, to turn people into homicidal maniacs. Not sure you can blame them, anymore than you can blame first person shooter games for inspiring the killer.
Someone screen captured the 8chan thread featuring the previous mass killer, the one in New Zealand. When his online pals realized that he was actually killing people and streaming it live they sure seemed like they were completely shocked.
Not the reaction you’d expect from people who really believe their cyberspace trash talking. But there was one lunatic in their crowd who decided to transfer his cyberspace life to “meatspace”. He announced what he was planning only minutes ahead of doing it, there was not enough time for them to warn the police even if they could have figured out where he was.
DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
Duh?

The chans were instrumental in getting Trump elected.
Precisely.
This article is nothing more than ANOTHER DS/CIA attempted takedown of The Donald's patriotic digital army.
I worry about anybody that buys into this obvious propaganda.
Dont get suckered in Bags.
As you noted there is solid evidence of the FBI posting and participating on 8chan threads.
Yep. They “glow”.
And didn’t the Christchurch shooter live stream on FB?
Hum. R,2 Seriously? Worried about 8-Chan?
How about the body count surrounding reading inspiring works like “Das Kapital” and the “Koran.”...millions. Since pretty much everyone on F/R has read them or portions of these works and has been inpired to “chit chat” about them you would be surprised to lear that we have not all been converted into a hive of collectivist killers!

I’ve both lurked and participated on numerous Chans since I was sixteen, and a lot of it is talk. There are a handful of talented hackers who take to activism, and an even smaller percentage of the communities actually believe what they post. The vast majority is for shock value, especially on random boards. I can’t speak to the political boards, because I haven’t spent a vast amount of time on them, but the posts seem to become more extreme around election time or when something big happens that causes an uproar.
Actually when you are looking at your own posts on the chan’s then you see (you) at the top of the posts. This tells you that it is your post. You will never see that for posts that others made.
Now in the screen captures of the posts that the FBI presented to get a warrant for 8chan then that (you) appears on several of their screen captures of offending posts. There is pretty much only one logical way that can happen.
This also tells you that this tactic is used on many forums including this one in order to cause certain outcomes. Sometimes it is to get a forum in trouble. Sometimes it is used just to “Slide” the thread and turn it into dribble that is unrelated to the unwanted topic at hand. Sometimes it just used to turn members against one another.
This is a practiced art that is being used to changed outcomes and get forum topics shut down. Only conservative topics seem to be affected.
One needs to be aware that things are not always what they seem or else one becomes completely gullible, and easy to manipulate.
There is the slide since this has nothing to do with Qannon. But you are so biased that you don’t want to look at the facts for this current situation. You should just be interested in the facts, and the truth. Why isn’t this story about How evil facebook is for live streaming horrendous crimes?
Very true.

This sounds like the anti-Trump, anti-free speech MSM.
