NJ is safer than Montana? Really?
How did NJ get on this list? Faking the stats?
NJ has diversity.
NJ is safer than Montana? Really?

I am not buying it.
New Jersey is in the top ten????? I’m tossing this list/ gotta be a joke.
Total bs
Little bit of a bias to N. England States?
btw, didn’t Virginia Beach just have a slaughter around June 1st.
Keep telling yourself and don’t skip a Kool-Aid serving.
Yeah, with New Jersey on the list it is total BS. However, in Vermont we all have guns.
"New Hampshire, like its neighbors Vermont and Maine, is nearly all white."
Those three states are numbers 1-3 here. Coincidence?
Montana has immigrants moving into towns 100 miles east of the Rocky Mountain Front. They are known as Ursus Horribilus. Grizzly Bears. New Jersey Horribles are of another species altogether.
Reporting from Montana.

In Maine and Vermont, most people own very little property so thats going to be low. And they are usually so stoned, they only break stuff by accident.
Also, in the back woods of ME, VT, and NH....if you start breaking up someone’s property they will shoot you. And then bury you on said property, and no on will every find you.
It cuts down on the complications from trials and prison.
1. It has crappy cities but they arent very big. Most of the states population lives in suburban towns with far more police officers than they need.
2. Yes, its a diverse state. But a lot of that diversity comes in the form of Asian immigrants. Culturally, crime is almost non-existent among these people. Your typical Indian immigrant would set himself on fire before he would ever commit a violent crime.
When I moved down here, I was looking for places in Ridgefield and the realtor told me that the crime was virtually non-existent in this area. I figured that was just snake-oil talk by a guy trying to sell me a house. But he ended up being right. This part of Connecticut is literally the safest place I have ever lived. I can't explain it. I know it's supposedly a deep blue state but all of the neighbors I've met are decent people and tend to be conservative.
That said, there are definitely areas of Connecticut to avoid, such as Bridgeport or New Haven. But in most of Fairfield county, it's extremely peaceful and the only sirens I've ever heard in my neighborhood were either for a fire, a car wreck or a medical emergency.
I ended up buying in Newtown (couple of towns away from Ridgefield) and it's pretty much the same here. Extremely quiet and peaceful with very nice neighbors. I don't even bother locking my car doors anymore. Yeah I know, the school shooting a few years ago but that was the one-time act of a madman. You can walk up and down any street around here day or night and nobody will ever hassle you. Ever. I can't explain it but I'm not complaining.
They are also rural, Vermont and Maine are poor, and they winters can be brutal. When you have to rely on the guy next door to help pull you out of a ditch, you are not going to rob or steal from them.
Those states tend to be pretty religious. Of course, southern Maine and NH are pretty much Massachusetts.
Living around CT all my life, with the exception of the 91 and 95 corridors, the state is very nice, very Yankee, and pretty much delightful.
Western MA is pretty much the same. Get out of Springfield and the area is pretty nice and low key. Reading the Police Blotters in the local towns is kind of humorous—but so boring.
Top of mountain in Montana...pop 2....crime 0
Before coming to Connecticut, I lived in Chelmsford, MA for a number of years. Another picture-perfect New England town with almost zero violent crime and pleasant neighbors. Reading the police blotter up there was mostly "cat-in-a-tree" type stuff.
Down here in Connecticut, they don't even print a police blotter to my knowledge.
Mass.? Huh? I think violent crime is a lot more important than property crime.
oddly, only Wyoming and Idaho are conservative states ... must have been an editorial slip up.
