A federal judge has ordered the State of Florida to provide all election ballots in Spanish starting with the 2020 election cycle.
The judge agreed with a group of voters born in Puerto Rico who said the lack of Spanish ballots limited their access to the polls and that the English-only ballots are a violation of the Voting Rights Act.
Compliance with this Order is not optional, wrote Chief Judge Mark Walker of the Northern District of Florida Gainesville Division, according to Fox News. This Court will not hesitate to use every tool the law provides to enforce this Order.
The judge also re-affirmed that people born in Puerto Rico are U.S. citizens and English-only ballots violate the rights of those raised and educated in Spanish.
Walker ordered that all primary and general election ballots must also be printed in Spanish starting with the ballots in March of 2020.
But the judge also praised the State of Florida for its plans to address the situation on its own. Gov. Ron DeSantis and Secretary of State Laurel Lee have already begun the process of providing Spanish-language ballots in all 32 counties in time for the 2020 elections. The government should be applauded for the effort, Walker said.
Walker noted that his ruling is meant to ensure that greater ballot access is applied.

Take it all the way to the SCOTUS!
Judges make laws?
State of Florida doesn’t provide any ballots in any language.
Each county provides their own.....................
I might have made that up.
Is Jeb Bush still in charge down here ?
If DeSantis is serious about 2024 he needs to get off his ass and sort out this insult
Appointed by scumbag Obama.
I’m pretty sure Florida already does this!
Before the Bush family, this was an English speaking country.
OBAMA JUDGE. Confirmed 94-0.
These pos judges need to be removed. He cannot just make up laws as he goes.
How about Mongol? Koine Greek? Klingon? COBOL?
Do judges simply get to make stuff up based on their notions of right and wrong? Good sense? Nice ideas?
>>> English-only ballots violate the rights of those raised and educated in Spanish. <<<
English = Trump
Espanol = Trump
I don’t see the point.
Apparently a judge can do anything they want, the law and especially Constitutional limitations do not apply. Why have referendums, any random judge or the SC with gay marriage will toss out the voters rulings. After all 5 judges know more than 60 million American voters. So why bother to vote a judge is going to overrule your vote and make the average citizens say in government irrelevant.
Why have legislators and congressmen? Judges routinely toss out laws that were legally voted on and passed, or worse as this tyrant did, make up law. A judge in my state decided that Directv had to make it’s customers pay a sales tax even though the legislature said no. As I asked my legislator, if judges can now make laws and institute taxes why do I need you anymore? His response was call me if I can ever help you. Why, wouldn’t it be better to bribe a judge, they have more power.
As for the original post, why is it ballots in Spanish, press 2 for Spanish and you get Spanish instruction in public schools. Do liberals some how think Hispanics are stupid and incapable of learning the language of the country they move too? It is the only conclusion I can come too because I don’t remember my grandparents talking about immigrants in their time getting ballots in their own language or public school classes being taught in Italian, German, Dutch, Greek, etc... Seems the left only believes the Hispanics are half-wits.
Tell the fed judge to pound sand.This crap has got to stop or the communists win and this judge is one of them.
I agree. President Trump has huge Hispanic support in Florida
outside of Miamai/Dade.
Definition of Federal Judge: A fatal disease with no known cure.
I think this was adjudicated in the 60s or 70s as a result of a case in NY. It had to do with NYC’s Puerto Rican population many of whom did not speak English, much like the Puerto Ricans relocated to Florida by the hurricane. The decision involved refence to having been educated in an American flag school as Puerto Ricans are. As citizens they had a right to matrtials in their language since their education was in Spanish in American schools.
Why do PR voters not get absentee ballots from PR?
So, how do you write “Trump” in Spanish?
