A Chinese live-streamer recently demonstrated to us all the dangers of attempting to eat a live octopus.
The woman from the Jiangsu city of Lianyungang is a lover of seafood and decided to demonstrate this affinity through an odd challenge involving devouring a cephalopod while it’s still alive. However, in this case, her meal wasn’t about to go down so easy.

Hurray for the octopus! Reminds me of why the ancient Hebrews had laws of civilized behavior separating them from the pagans. One of those was a rule something like, you can’t cut off a limb of a live animal for food.

She knew full well what she was doing. That octopus is about 10x the size a person would normally eat live. Even then the little ones are stretched out and lubed in sauces before eating. This might be the Chinese equivalent of a tide pod challenge or some other stupid “challenge” but this isn’t “eating live octopus”.
