UPDATED with full statement from IMDb. IMDb is getting dragged for publishing the birth names of trans actors without their permission. Known as deadnaming, the outing of their birth names can bring about stress and possibly lead to harassment and discrimination.
Two anonymous trans actors told IndieWire that they have told IMDb to remove their birth names numerous times but they hadnt complied. Even with the help from their management, reps and GLAAD, their names continued to be displayed.
After contacting IMDb, one of the trans actors said they gave a non-apology and they claimed that its public information and they do this with everyone. Another trans actor failed to get their birth name removed after months of back and forth. They eventually were able to change their name on their profile, but the birth name is still displayed in the Bio section.
Another actor said they failed to get IMDb to remove their birth name as recently as late 2017 when, after months of back and forth, they were finally able to change the name on their profile. Their birth name still appears in the Bio section and next to roles they played prior to the change.
An edit button on IMDb profile pages are available for registered users to make corrections and edits, but the actors were unable to change specific details on their profiles. Under their company policy, IMDb states We are committed to accuracy and it is our longstanding policy not to alter or remove correct factual information from our records.
In a full statement given to Deadline in regards to the issue, an IMDb spokesperson said:
IMDb is committed to being the most authoritative and complete source of film, TV and celebrity information. Our users trust that when they use IMDb, they are receiving comprehensive and accurate biographical information. IMDb strives to represent an individuals gender identity while also accurately reflecting cast and crew listings as they appear in a productions on-screen credits at the time of original release. When we become aware via our standard data contribution methods that an individual has changed their gender and/or name, we use the new gender and/or name on their page and credits. For productions they previously worked on, their credited name is also available in parentheses, in order to accurately reflect what was listed on-screen. This process is applied uniformly, consistently and without bias to preserve the factual historical record. For any individuals who wish to specify their preferred pronouns these can be recorded as part of their biography section.
Every page on IMDb has an Edit button which any registered user can use to submit additions or corrections to IMDb content. Additionally, we have customer support staff to handle any question or request which, for any reason, cant be communicated via our standard data contribution forms.
Deadnaming? Where do they come up with these designations? Newsflash Queerboy: As long as your DNA says you are male, that’s what you are, and you cannot expect the rest of us to join you in your little delusional fantasy that HE is dead. Screwed up as he may be, he’s still alive and wants out.
Thanks, but I still think people should define an acronym the first time it’s used in a piece of writing.
What? I thought we're supposed to believe they're proud of their perversion.
I think it is generally polite to call people by the names they want to use. Shouldn’t be legally mandated, except, say, by government workers. And most businesses will want to comply anyway.
But rewriting history? Having the right to forbid the communication of history?
Nope. That’s too far.
Wikipedia still lists the 1976 decathalon as Bruce Jenner.
Men can beat women in womens sports. Men can share bathrooms with little girls. Men can violate the privacy of women, expose themselves to women and trample on all manner of womens rights. All they have to do is participate in the clinical insanity of fake gender, or even just pretend to. And anyone who calls foul either man or woman is branded a Public Enemy.
“Thanks, but I still think people should define an acronym the first time its used in a piece of writing.”
I learned that in High School English Class! You use the FULL name of the entity FIRST, only THEN can you use the initials.
But, you know, it’s 2019 and all of the Journalism School (J-School) dopes are TAUGHT by dopes at this point in time!
2) Just this week I heard a prominent deviant (sorry, gay) actor insist "take it up with God, he made me this way." So... God clearly doen't make mistakes in the eyes of the LGTABQB crowd. So then...
3) If THAT is your argument... then God made you a guy, and you shouldn't be seeking to become a girl.
Could you guys PLEASE make ONE STANDARD?
“Men can beat women in womens sports. Men can share bathrooms with little girls. Men can violate the privacy of women, expose themselves to women and trample on all manner of womens rights.”
And nary a PEEP from the Feminists on this point! You’d think they’d be all OVER these ‘fake’ men keeping the sisters down after they’ve come so far!
*Rolleyes* What a world!

It is a very helpful website for researching movies, TV and actors/resses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMDb
truth is truth even if these “trans” people are trying to avoid it, it’s still truth. I don’t like to deal with any people in lies and deceit.
Tennis Champ Martina Nava-something (not looking up how to spell her name) has spoken out against it.
She kicked @ss as a chromosomal woman, LOL!
I’ve got to patent that, ‘Chromosomal Woman.’ ;)
“You make me feel...you make me feel...you make me feel like a Chromosomal Woman!” ;)
I could sell a million t-shirts, LOL!
he was a man then and in Wheaties ads. Do people claim at some point after 1976 he considered himself a woman.
After all this time I wasn’t aware you could edit items on your profile. It wasn’t like this in the past. Interesting because they can leave off many productions one has worked on.
Yeah, like any normal person is supposed to know all this warped crap.
Best information for anything Hollywood. Its a gem. A vast amount of facts. I think youd find it fascinating.
