Dee Space Nine was the best of the post Original Series productions. It actually tried to describe a realistic society and situations not the fascist we are so much better than you utopia of Next Generation.

I liked TNG okay but found the “everybody always gets along” vibe a bit trite. A thing I really liked in the DS9 premiere was how Sisko blamed Picard for the death of his wife thanks to his time as a Borg. Right away they said “confict between characters? yeah, that’s a thing again on this version of Star Trek”. A very good thing ineed.

Voyager was the worst of the post OS series, although I admit to not watching the most recent one. It started with an interesting premise- having to integrate enemy crews into a single functioning unit- but did nothing with it.

Cool. I thought DS9 was the best.

DS9, suckiest of all the Star Trek series.

Airing on January 3rd, 1993, the premiere episode, "Emissary,"

That whole story line about non-linear existence was a bit much to process for a show that began at 10PM local time.

Not a huge fan of Next Generation or DS9 but there were some excellent episodes of both. I watched each and every episode because I was a HUGE STTOS fan (yes those are dated now).

My favorite spin off is still Enterprise. Much less liberal Prime Directive crap. Much more acting unilaterally and pi$$ing off the Vulcans. Really loved Shran the andorians. Cool buddy movie stuff with Shran

Voyager is by far the WORST. If it wasn’t for ‘7 of 9’ I would have missed all of these episodes.

The guy that played Elim Garak (Andrew Robinson) was the same guy who played the Scorpio Killer in the original ‘Dirty Harry’ (..so, you’re going to have to ask yourself a question...do I feel lucky...). Yup, that guy.

While I enjoyed the 3 original Star Wars movie, the sequels became tiresome. It was like a space-based western. The latest installments are just lame. Lucas should have stopped when he was ahead. But he still draws the fans in.

Yes, I'm a Trekkie of sorts. Star Trek had a bigger concept and often had a morality tale. I like a couple of the early Star Trek movies, but then they got lame. The whale movie was stupid.

The best between Star Wars and Star Trek movies was the Star Trek reboot with Chris Pine (Kirk's birth&childhood) and how he became captain of the Enterprise. The casting was phenomenal and the actors had the characters down pat. Didn't care for the romance between Spock and Uhura, but can't everything.

I agree with you on DS9.

It still can’t touch B5.

Truck stop 9. Totally went away from the whole premise of the Star Trek franchise. Never understood the popularity of a Star Trek-esque soap opera.

TNG: Families have NO PLACE in what is 88% of the the BATTLE CONDITIONS. Can you IMAGINE the PTSC of growing up on the TNG Enterprise. I think my favorite ST was Enterprise, with the exception of the horrible last episode. Archer was a Regular Guy, not a Superman like the rest.

DS9 was by far the best of the newer Star Trek series’ with Enterprise next. Yes Voyager was easily the worst. Also yes, Babylon 5 was very good as a whole.

Spare me the space based utopia and the Leftist perfectibility of man crap. Not gonna happen. People will always care about money, looks, status, etc. I really loved the episode “In the Pale Moonlight” in which Sisko and Garak commit all sorts of crimes including murder to manipulate the Romulan Empire into coming into the Dominion War on their side. Of course anybody would do that. Spare me the morality play BS. It’s war and you have to get your hands dirty for the greater good.

Maybe I should start a thread about SciFi series that had promise but either the networks gave up to soon or the writing went flat. I can think of several.

If the documentary doesn’t talk about how they ripped off JMS it’s worthless.

Ben Sisko was booooring!
He talked in a weird sing song whisper.
If only the prophets would have chosen better.
