Britain has banned all Boeing 737 Max 8 aircrafts from flying in its airspace following the Ethiopian Airlines disaster om Sunday.
The decision made by investigators comes after the fatal Ethiopian Airlines Boeing Max 8 crash shortly after take-off from Addis Ababa led to the deaths of 157 people onboard.
The UK is now among Australia, Singapore, China, Indonesia and Malaysia who have banned the aircraft.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority said: 'As we do not currently have sufficient information from the flight data recorder we have, as a precautionary measure, issued instructions to stop any commercial passenger flights from any operator arriving, departing or overflying UK airspace.

Boeing supposedly has a software update according to what I’m hearing on the news. Not sure how Boeing at this point knows if software is the culprit? Did they find the black boxes?
I’d read, perhaps it’s not accurate, that a Boeing pilot could basically shut the computer down and take 100% control of the plane, unlike an Airbus where the computer cannot be overridden. I’m sure there’s much more to it than that.

Does appear this aircraft has very aggressive software, which is probably great 99.999% of the time....still need trained humans when the sensors fail.

Why have pilots? Worse, why have co-pilots? I though the idea was to have multiple levels of redundancy, people vs. computer and a human backup to the human.
Hearing that other pilots have had problems but were able to correct implies there’s something very wrong here.
Some airlines have grounded their fleet.
I think the national aviation authorities are trying to force EASA (Europe’s aviation safety agency) and the FAA to ground all 737 MAX planes.
I hate flying. But this is loony without more info. If there isn’t any to justify the action, this is likely a plot aimed at the US and Boeing.

It’s interesting that these crashes are usually backwater airlines. Indonesia and Ethiopia.
I’m guessing a LOT more of them are flying over Europe and North America, without a hitch.
The article says they recovered the black boxes in the Ethiopia crash. Also, Boeing has been ordered to improve the anti-stalling software. I'd look also at the angle of attack probes to make sure they are sending correct AOA information to the computer systems because of GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out).
On the F-4 (I know, showing my age) it was common that a dirty angle of attack probe would give faulty information to the CADC (Central Air Data Computer), which in turn would send faulty information to the altimeters and you'd get some wild altitude readings. I know the auto-pilot system had an altitude-hold mode but probably this new anti-stall system goes way beyond that. Also, pilots were not allowed to use the altitude-hold feature below 10,000 feet, probably because of these problems.
If terrorrism you’d have a group taking credit for it already.
The recent crash was probably more difficult to avoid given the airport was at high latitude leaving little room deal with the issue, assuming it was mechanical/plane system.
Heck, sometimes you get multiple groups claiming credit.

I fear this is a sensor/software problem and will be very difficult to diagnose.
The clueless media are driving this. No one knows the cause of this accident. The investigators may have some ideas, but right now, they only have the data from the voice recorder. The Flight data recorder has been recovered, but has some damage, so they can’t retrieve the data yet. I think that they learned their lessons with Flight 800 when the FBI jumped to a conclusion and said that the airplane was brought down by a missile. It wasn’t, the problem was a short in wiring inside a fuel tank. The usual suspects continue to claim that the U.S. Navy shot it down.
When they have a cause, they will announce it. Meanwhile, idiots like Geraldo Rivera and Diane Feinstein will run their mouths on TV and claim to be experts.

Back in the old days, before internet, multiple factions could claim responsibility and it would take months to prove who did it. But now with the internet giving instant reports, they can’t do that...................
