This video appeared on social media early this week from the Flintlock 2019 military exercise in the Sahel region of Africa. Whoever the unit is in the video- and no one is giving them credit (or blame ), they demonstrate about every aircraft exit mistake a static line parachutist can make short of actually forgetting to hook up their static line.
The video has disappeared from social media, but we managed to make a video of the video before it disappeared.
***** Jumper nine defies description. He apparently deduces that using his butt as a kind of braking device upon exit may make his jump somehow safer or easier. Whatever the reason he smacked against the exit ramp on exit, that had to hurt. He also kind of flaps his arms in a bird-like motion. Maybe he doesnt trust his chute.

LOL. The guys I knew at Ft Bragg would laugh their A##es off.
Blood Upon the Risers
(sung to the tune of the Battle Hymn of the Republic)
He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with fright,
He checked all his equipment and made sure his pack was tight;
He had to sit and listen to those awful engines roar,
“You ain’t gonna jump no more!”
[CHORUS/]
Gory, gory, what a hellu’va way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hellu’va way to die,
Gory, gory, what a hellu’va way to die,
He ain’t gonna jump no more!
[\CHORUS END]
“Is everybody happy?” cried the Sergeant looking up,
Our Hero feebly answered “Yes,” and then they stood him up;
He crowded(/jumped) into the icy blast, his static line unhooked,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
He counted long, he counted loud, he waited for the shock,
He felt the wind, he felt the cold, he felt the awful drop,
The silk from his reserve spilled out, and wrapped around his legs,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
The risers swung around his neck, connectors cracked his dome,
Suspension lines were tied in knots around his skinny bones;
The canopy became his shroud; he hurtled to the ground.
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
The days he’d lived and loved and laughed kept running through his mind,
He thought about the girl back home, the one he’d left behind;
He thought about the medics, and He wondered what they’d find,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
The ambulance was on the spot, the jeeps were running wild,
The medics jumped and screamed with glee, rolled up their sleeves and smiled,
For it had been a week or more since last a ‘chute had failed,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
He hit the ground, the sound was “SPLAT”, his blood went spurting high;
His comrades, they were heard to say “A HELL OF A WAY TO DIE!”
He lay there, rolling ‘round in the welter of his gore,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
(CHORUS)
(slowly, solemnly; about half the speed of the other verses)
There was blood upon the risers, there were brains upon the chute,
Intestines were a-dangling from his paratroopers suit,
He was a mess, they picked him up, and poured him from his boots,
And he ain’t gonna jump no more.
I know nothing of jumping and I’m laughing mine off.
Too bad there wasn’t any video of their PLFs.
Another FReeper a while back described elite African troops: They wore berets.
That was it; nothing “elite” about them, just a different cover to indicate the elite status.
The Simba Revolt ended when hundreds of white mercenaries quickly routed the ferals that had beaten the national army’s thousands of troops.
I will say one thing in their favor: they all actually JUMPED.
How many African troops would?
I just finished watching Season 1 of “The Widow” on Prime, the majority of which was staged in Africa. (It was fiction. I didn’t watch the credits to see where it was shot, so it could’ve been in South America, but...)
I was not left with a warm and fuzzy feeling about Africa.
If you have a warm fuzzy feeling about Africa
It will take a strict regime of strong antibiotics & antivirals to put it right!
I’m bustin a gut. That’s hilarious.
Yes.
They did.
And I give them credit for that.
But holy XXXX! What a cluster!
Send 'em back to school, before they kill themselves.
My travels in limited portions of Africa (East Africa and southern Africa) don't make me an expert on anything...including the areas I've visited.But the "native" Africans I've had contact with were far higher on the societal ladder than those punks.They were people connected to the tourist industry and were all at least reasonably fluent in English...and some were fluent in French,German,etc.They struck me as hard working,decent people...people who,given the chance to come here,would be far more valuable to this country than are at least some of our so called "African Americans".
Just sayin'....
LOL!
During the French war in Indo-China, they relied heavily on Colonial paratroops when the fought the Viet-Minh. These men were soldiers in every since of the word. Fighting under French Officers was a problem.
Unfortunately many of those well-trained colonial troops then went home and helped lead the resistance against French rule - particularly in Algeria.
Wow!
That’s some bad exits!
Makes one wonder if these were indeed paratroops or if they were just legs strapped into ‘chutes and forced (at gunpoint?) to exit the craft.
looks to me like the biggest problem for many of them was that the exit ramp was REALLY slick ... lots of ‘em lost their footing going down the ramp ...
