Having done some traveling in Africa it's easy for me to understand this. Many Africans think of 30 year old Toyota pickups as cutting edge technology so it's easy to see how air travel would boggle their minds.

Another FReeper a while back described elite African troops: They wore berets.
That was it; nothing “elite” about them, just a different cover to indicate the elite status.
The Simba Revolt ended when hundreds of white mercenaries quickly routed the ferals that had beaten the national army’s thousands of troops.

I just finished watching Season 1 of “The Widow” on Prime, the majority of which was staged in Africa. (It was fiction. I didn’t watch the credits to see where it was shot, so it could’ve been in South America, but...)
I was not left with a warm and fuzzy feeling about Africa.
